They aren’t forgiving off the toe, but no other iron in the same category is.

zxi7 is the best bet in the solid forged.

t100 is the best in the players tech.

Only other ones you possibly add would be 243 and Wilson MB/CB. S1 actually performs quite well (surprisingly?) off the toe in the askgolfnut database. S3 would be one of the worst for a toe miss.

Yeah.  It’s all relative.  The s1 is a smaller iron.  So there technically less toe length to miss it out on, so the misses on those charts end up closer to the middle.

in the end, neither are great out on the toe if that’s your miss.

that was my thought as well, but I think AGN their measurements for performance based on mm and not % off middle.

I'm also guessing based on the stock shaft choice that the S1 heads will weigh 3-5g heavier than S3, which are rather light for a forged one-piece head. Golfworks/Maltby says the S3 6 iron is 256g which is on the light side. But a lot of recent Mizunos have been in that range.

I'm being a bit harsh on the rev 33s. But I'm not a spoony toe guy. The last several iterations of Mizuno MB's just look like wooden kitchen spoons. The spoony teardrop shape just doesn't fit my eye at all when I think of a nice sharp looking mb. Oh well.

Thanks for the info.  Looks like I will hold off to see what the newer iteration of the 243 has in store.  JPX Forged are still a little too hot with jacked lofts for me that would create a gapping issue for me in the 120ish range without re-assessing my wedge setup.  The S3s were great when I demo'd them, but just a couple ticks above my ability, especially on a bad day if strike is off.

Cobra 3dp tour!

s3 was notably worse off toe strikes in store. There’s a YouTube reviewer who must be a toe striker bc his numbers were awfulll.

but I think the s3 are the best looking irons on the market rn. Totally want to justify ingraining a heel miss just to play them.

I haven’t hit Cobra 3DP and I’m sure it’s great but I think it’s a bigger head, more like the 245? Plus the lofts a quite a bit stronger so it’s a different profile head.

I’m probably going to test the S3 in the next month or so even though I love my Wilson MBs. The S3 look so good.

243 maybe. Not 245 sized for sure. Just handled them and they’re compact. Not tiny, but they’re not thick or long.

I had a set and flipped them

I felt they were a little bit larger than the king tours I use

spin was low for me across the board - acts like a hollow-body in that way

There’s a MB version coming out any day now. Very interesting model to combo. Wonder what they’ll be able to do with it.

Mizuno should have re launched w ALL of their new irons so the consumer can pick and choose and perhaps combo which is right for them.   I’m an 8 hcp but the average golfer cant play these.  You cant even find a store/fitter that has the heads anywhere by me and no one knows.   Golf Galaxy, PGA Tour Superstore and Club Champion, no one has any idea when the heads will arrive to test.    They should have launched this new lineup with every make model so we can compare apples to apples.  I’d combo these with the S3 tomorrow but with all this chatter about a new 243, 245 being launched when, January?  I’m not buying anything now if that’s the case and it bothers me to demo golf clubs in January when I live in the northeast.   Swing speed always a little off.   Annoying.  Come on Mizuno get your act together.   I can go out and test at least 3 different lineups now from Titleist and/or Srixon.  Let’s go.   Why would they do this?

There’s probably logistic and manufacturing issues with doing that. But I bet the biggest reason is a lot of people will run out and buy the S1 and S3 even though they shouldn’t. Then, when they realize they can’t play them and the more forgiving option comes out they’ll end up buying those too.

The signature line is on a completely different timeline than their other lines. Comparing them to Srixon/Titleist is also funny because neither released blade-like offerings with the rest of its line. So you are essentially punishing Mizuno for expanding their fully forged lineup when Titleist and Srixon have deprioritized theirs. Srixon only has 4 iron models and Mizuno has 8 (most likely 10 once the signature line is fully released).

I partially agree with you here but I think it’s safe to call a T100 borderline/cavity back/blade.  I also agree with the above before you, questioning buyers remorse if I were to buy anything now with Mizuno without at least trying the remaining 2 launches.  Just stupidly annoying.  They almost have too many irons out right now.  Gives me a headache.

Yeah, I would disagree.

I have a set of s-3 and I hit them in a fitting outodoors of turf against the new t100 last week.  The t100 is bigger in every dimension and has lots of tungsten and mass moved around.  Different type of iron in my option.  You get away with a lot more.  More like players tech iron

s-3, cobra cb, p7mc, Wilson cb….those are more similar.

king tour, t100, p7cb, bluprint s, tcb are all similar and give you more help on mistakes.  Generally a touch larger

something like the zxi7 set in between, if not for tha fact its so much longer heel to toe than the rest

The T100 is their third most Players-like iron after the mb and cb, which havent been refreshed in many years. I also am very interested in what they have cooking with the S2 and S4 as I would consider comboing but from a business perspective I understand why they are doing a slow rollout. The signature line wont exactly be a cash cow for them relatively speaking, so it would be hard to roll out four new irons all at once on top of the other lines they have.
