The British Open is by far the worst major

The courses are glorified goat pastures. The greens roll like carpet in a bedroom. The weather is terrible and makes everyone that lives there an alcoholic. Royal Portrush? Junk. Carnoustie? Lame. Don't even get me started on the joke that is St. Andrews.

It's time to remove it's status as a major and let the Players replace it.

I dont think the courses are trash. The only con is I feel there's a lot left to chance. Bad tee time, bad bounces etc. That's true of all majors, but more so with the Open.

Actually they are mostly sheep pastures which is almost the only use for links land.  The often bad weather is an added bonus.

Not really. Field isn't always as strong of course, but the challenge is always there and trending players who can understand what needs to be done are always in contention. Each tee and pin position calls for specific shots, the conditions can came into large effect, and there's pressure on the putter for the entire round. Amen Corner also always delivers. 

 

The PGA remains the weakest by far.

Zero identity right now and some of the courses are nothing but normal Tour stops.
