Titleist GT1 Hybrid?

Curious if anyone has tried a GT1 hybrid with an upgraded shaft (AD VF, Ventus, etc).  I know it's meant to launch high but wondering if the low/low shaft makes it an interesting combo.

TSR1 Hybrid owner here. Using an 80g hazards black 6.0 shaft at 22 degrees. Its for sure a higher trajectory than any other similarly lofted hybrid I've hit, but still lower then a 7 or 9 wood. I can hit 215 yard shots that stop quickly on firm greens, no other hybrid I've played can do that. Not stellar in the wind because of the added spin and height..but great as a long gapping club.

Tried a TSR1 20* with a HZRDUS 6.5 today.  Hit some good ones on the Trackman but just didn't go far enough for what I am looking for.

I'm pretty tempted to get a GT1 20 degree, put the weight forwed set at 19 degrees...add a low/low shaft...

Would be a very interesting combo I'd think

I have a GT1 hybrid I’m still getting used to, coming from a TSr2 and prior gen 2 models for forever.  I’m not a slow speed player but I’m not 110mph driver either.  I was told I needed more height on my shots with the 21* as my 2 model runs out too much on all but the best max swings. I have the Tensei 85 shaft in it, and it flies notably higher and launches way easier. It doesn’t seem to go as far but mostly due to lack of run out now. The extra height definitely costs distance but it acts more like a 4 iron and less of driving iron now which is what I needed.

I tinkered with the GT1 Hybrid turned down to 19. I tried 3 different shafts with it, Velo Blue+ 8x tipped 1.5", Velo Black 8x tipped 1.5", Velo Blue + HB 9x no tipping.

Starting with the 9x HB, It launched very high for me, I plugged in the Velocore Black to try to lower the launch a tad but it just wasn't the right fit for me. Tried the Velo Blue 8x and it was kind of in between the HB and black. I was getting consistently around 215 yds carry. Which left me with weird gapping issues. My 7w is 230~ and my 4 iron is 210~. It would be more of a 4 iron replacement for me.

I think the club would work great with the proper gapping setup, but for me it wouldn't be taking over the 7w or 4 iron.

My TSR1 4 hybrid is never leaving the bag. It carries 210-215 on a rope. Gaps perfectly between 4 iron and 5 wood.

I have been tempted to pick up a GT1 5 hybrid to replace my 4 iron but honestly I can take some off the 4 hybrid and hit it soft if needed.

Been gaming mine a couple round now, and I am thinking if fits the bill for me.  Coming from a 2 model for foever I am learning that club didn't land soft enough for me to use as a scoring club.  While it was great off the tee, it performed more like a driving iron than a hybrid.  The GT1 goes very high and soft, but I have lost quite a bit of distance overall, due to less roll out.  If I need something to go further this will just go higher by hitting it harder, so I am learning i need to step up to a 5 wood for that shot.  The plus side it is launches easy, and I have had it stop preditcably on greens or fairways where the 2 model would roll out.  This was a case of I didn't know how low i was hitting the 2 model until I hit this one side by side, and I always just thought any shot I missed with the old hybrid was a poor swing.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the general consensus here seems that it’s more fairway wood like than a ‘traditional’ hybrid, but not quite as 1:1/effective in replacing a preferred FW at similar lofts.

I hit the GT1 4 hybrid a little bit in demo, but I didn’t know that it was enough to replace the ‘high and far’ combo of my G425 7w…

I do understand the GT1 to be a pretty solid upgrade over the TSR1, which I haven’t hit.

That was my experience.  It was more like an 8 wood for me.  Not enough for a 7 wood but farther than a 9 wood.

I have the GT1 20,23,26,and have a 29 on order.  Hzdrus Black Gen 5 90g weight forward.  These things are mini FW's.  I have mine +1" longer as well. I'm 6'5.  I switch between A2 and D2 loft settings. These things launch it high but not balloony at all. Having the heavy weight forward helps keep the spin down. Still trying to dial in the yardages.  My AI200 7 iron(30*) goes about 170 carry.  The 26 goes around 190.  That is a gap I don't like that's why the 29.  Hope it works.

You are correct. 7W is definitely longer than the 4H. It really depends on how you want your top end of the bag to gap.

My 5W is a 230-240 club, 4H 210-220. A 7W would sit somewhere between those two but I personally have no need for that many clubs at the top of my bag.

Playing a tsr1 20° with aldila vs proto 95.

Only hit a few times on course with this combo, was really good. High launch and flight, not a ton of run out.

Had a problem over drawing/ pulls with a fuji motore speeder 8.8hb. The extra weight of the vs proto seemed to help me hold the face off.

Performed well for the slot I wanted. 210-200yds.

My setup is working nicely for me:

GT2 16.5 A1 - Ventus Red 7x

GT2 21 C1- Ventus Red 7x

GT1 23 B1 - AD-HY 85x

GT1 26 B1 - AD-HY 95x

I want to put little hotmelt to quiet GT1 to more like GT2 but haven't gotten to it.

It seems like crown is little tinny.

If anyone did either sole, crown or both, your feedback would be appreciated!

Almost all set for 2021
