Hello

im testingnew irons…

got the DG x100 in my current set.

testing new irons with the c taper X

i lost like 10-15 yds… wth

lofts are the 1deg weak

is the c taper more spinny?

or am I just not capable off hitting the middle with the ctapers.

C-taper 130x are some serious lumber. They might be heavier or too stiff. What's your swing speed? The 1 degree weaker lofts are part of it as well.

Are they Stiffer than the x100?

good question … Driver around 113 mph I think

The 130X I believe are stiffer. My driver is about 110 and I'm playing C taper S+ soft stepped x1. I don't hit my irons very far. There are a lot of smart people on here. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Highly likely you aren’t loading the shaft enough. IMO you need to be 120+ with driver to play 130x CT effectively. I’ve played them soft stepped and they give me good numbers but I actually spin them more than x100 because I hit a lot of off speed irons and you want to be minimum of high 90s with a 7i for the CT 130.

Sorry, that's not really correct. Shafts don't "need" to be loaded at all and swing speed has nothing to do with it. How much the shaft loads has no direct contribution to the ball flight other than a small change in dynamic loft - and only for those with a late enough release.

However, that doesn't mean they may not be too stiff for the OP. That could be true - but for slightly different reason. Too stiff or too soft is not directly about the amount of loading. It's about how the players swing changes with the different stiffness or loading feels. e.g. some might try and force the shaft to load more than it would with there normal swing if they are used to or expecting to feel more loading. And that attempt to force the loading could mess with the swing and delivery.

Hard to say without more information. Just not enough to really say what the problem might be.

Is there any other difference between the sets besides the shaft? Is the swing weight, grip and playing length the same as the DG set?

How did the club head speed change?

How did ball speed change?

How did the trajectory (launch and spin) change?

Did impact tape or foot powder spray show that you were having problems with hitting the center of the face?

Even some info on how they felt to you compared to the older shafts might be helpful.

This. They could still very well be the wrong shaft for OP, but what I've found is people's perceptions of what a shaft should do or feel like change how they swing the club.

When I tried CT 130x they were in a set of clubs I was going to re-shaft, but I hit them like crap at first trying to stomp on them. What I found was if I make normal swings, they were totally fine and really were quite nice. Not for me, but could it be done? Surely.

what are the new irons? are the specs identical other than the 1* loft difference and shaft?

Agree 100%. My ss used to 122 eons ago and I actually went with c-taper 125 because 130's were rebar stout and didn't like the feel. Definitely need to bring the heat with the 130's.
