Rickie with a second straight 65 after the great finish at Portrush. 
 

I hope he can keep it up.  He hasn’t played terribly this year: only 2 missed cuts and 7 top 25s - but only one top ten - he’s 63rd in the FedEx right now.  
 

Right now a T4 only gets him to 55th. He’s gonna have to play really well the next 2-3 weeks to get inside that top 50 which seems to be his goal.

The backend, affectionately known as the mules, the ones that carry the PGAT IMO are playing for jobs or trying to get to the big money at Eastlake.

 

A player's first win and plenty of FedEx points are up for grabs.

Surprises at the backend 

 

Eric Cole and EvR both guys who know how to make birdies are near DFL on a course giving up birdies.

 

Not a  surprise..

 

Dunlap customarily spraying 1 or 2 drives per side into no-mans-land. He's right there with Eric and Erik.

Eric Cole said that it took him too long to get on the PGAT, so he plays every event for as long as it lasts. Frankly, I don't blame him. 🤣

 

Eric Cole is one of my favorite underdogs to follow; he will need plenty of birdies this week, though.

The elevated events and the fewer number of cards available has made these "lesser" events even better.

 

And like...2 years exemption and points and all the money from playoff events - likely into the elevated events.  Huge huge deal for these events.

 

Like - yeah you aren't guaranteed anything other than in the no-cut events - but between winning the tournament itself and then just the average player earnings/sponsorships for the next two years - like a 2 year exemption is worth $4-6 million...?
