We will be staying in a local pub, Airbnb, or Dormy (Aberdovey, Harlech and Tenby). Renting a van from Manchester Airport & driving ourselves. I was able to book all these courses about 6/8 months ago.

All are in the English Top 200 with Kington and Cleeve Hill being in the Top 100.

 

Total green fees for the trip is £137.

Might do a day trip to Monterey or a weekend in Palm Desert before the end of the year. Possibly a weekend in Palm Desert in January 2026. I'm probably going to the Western Pacific region in Feb-May of 2026, still in the planning stages where we'll be playing.

I'm very fortunate to have been able to play most of the big private clubs on the Golf Digest Top 100 list.  The only three courses I have left on my personal "must play before I die" list are: The Ocean Course, Pebble Beach, and The Old Course.

 

My wife and I will be visiting Kiawah Island later this summer and staying at the Sanctuary Hotel.  All of the feedback I have read on GolfWRX is to play the Ocean Course twice as opposed to a second resort course on the island. That trip will take care of #1 on the above list.

 

We are also booked my first ever trip to Scotland for May 2026 on Dumbarnie Links, Carnoustie, Kingsbarn, The Castle Course, The Old Course, Royal Troon, Turnberry, Prestwick, and Murfield (36 holes).  Not only will this be the biggest golf trip I have ever (and likely will ever) take, but it will also take care of #3 on the above list.

 

After those two trips all that's left is Pebble Beach. I'm waiting for Spanish Bay's renovation to be complete before booking that.

Played all of those except that French Lick Pete Dye Course. All of them super fun! Nice line up!

HIGHLY recommend Portugal. Very underrated golf destination imho. My group trip was there in 2023.

Yep. We were there for a short trip this March after we cancelled our Bandon trip. Next year's trip will be longer.

I was lucky enough to play Minchinhampton Old and Cleeve Hill back in early May. Wonderful courses. In fact, not to be dramatic, I can say that the day at Minchinhampton Old is my favorite 18 holes of golf I have ever played. The feeling of having a great walk around an old Common, with dog walkers, occasional cars, houses and history and views all around - and then a lovely interesting course. It's just the best. Very linksy, after the dry spring. And a wonderful pub in the heart of the common. Cleeve Hill was a real experience too, and I understand why it's so highly ranked. We played a greensomes match there which got a bit heated, so that coloured the experience a bit. Should you have time for another round, I recommend Stinchcombe Hill also. But of a hidden gem. We had amazing greens there, and it's another hilltop course - though not across common land (stricly speaking). Breathtaking views and another great walk, and some very, very fine holes.

Trying to look into a quick week long trip to London to catch an Arsenal game with some golf mixed in for spring 26, but I've probably missed the opportunity to get tee times.

 

If that doesn't happen then not sure when the next trip will happen as we are looking to start a family.

I reckon there would be a few places to get tee times. But you might need to spread the net a bit wide. And I’m also hoping for some Arsenal success.

St Andrews mid June 2026.

Don't have the full itinerary yet but we'll be on the Ballot for TOC in August and going even if we don't hit.

Its our 3rd trip in the last 5 years and so far the only big ticket time booked is Carnoustie Championship. The other must plays for us is Crail Balcomie, Lundin and Panmure. After that I'm fairly certain that we'll play Dumbarnie, Levin and might squeeze in Kingsbarns. Lucky to have played KB twice but the cost is nuts (it was for Carnoustie as well but we paid it- $550 USD per guy) KB probably about the same.
