Adjustable 3w or adjustable 3hl?

I’m thinking of adding a paradym so smoke 3w or 3hl giving the option to lift up or down. My bag runs driver, 4i-9, W,G and 52,56,60 so I only have one spot in the bag without stuffing the extra in. My 4i is 18 degree which I usually hit pretty well.

Just looking at opinions on the 3 wood loft range 14-17 degree and the 3hl with loft range of 15.5-18.5 with the adjustable hosel. I’ll have to figure out distances with my clubs but generally would you go with more low end loft of the 3 or the higher end of the 3hl with just running 1 wood in the bag?

What is your Chs? Most people will struggle elevating a 15° head and even a 16.5° head. Also what is your miss? If it’s a slice, you could go either and loft up to close the face. What is the distance gap you are trying to close from your 4i? Will this be a tee only club or something you hit off the deck?

My fitter was surprised I could elevate a 3HL off the deck with a very low swing speed. It was slow enough that gapping wasn't an issue. The goal was to get the ball down as far down the fairway I could with a reasonable dispersion.

Clubhead speed on my old 1999 cobra 3 wood is 100-101mph. I tend to pull my 3 wood a little. Distances I have to sort out more as I’m not super consistent yet so I don’t think I’ll tell too much of a difference in the lofts yet. It will mostly be an off the ground club

You may want to compare the 3HL vs the 3W to see which gives you the longest distances. When and where I play is factor as well.

There as some places where the ball rolls really well. I expect the ball to roll farther after the dew has evaporated.

As the club head speed goes down the optimum loft goes up. When I was a tiny kid my 5 iron went farther than my 3 iron. I didn't have enough CHS to use the lower lofted 3 iron!

It took me forty years to understand why?

Another thing to note is your preference of face angle at address. I personally went with a 17.5° Cobra 5W lofted down to 16° as I like a slight open face.

I’ll have to check how lofting up and down changes the face on the callaway. I do prefer a more open face
