Need help...

Hello There! I went to Golf Galaxy today and hit the brand new Titleist AP2 and it felt great! The Tungsten-Nickel Insert made it feel soft. They were out of the ZB Forgeds and I was dying to hit it. I was just wondering, can I hit it?I already play Vokey design wedges and sometimes catch it fat. The models are 248.06, SM54.10, and SM60.04. I hit the AP2 with the PX5.5, equivelent to stiff flex. Trajectory was very good, and I could fade and draw it. I was hitting on a projector. The distance was 10 yards longer then my slingshots. I have a few questions:

1. How accurate are the projectors? When I hit the Slinghots the distance was normal.
   
2. The stock shaft on the AP2 is the Project X 5.5. Will the Dynamic Gold on the ZB Forged feel like a down grade? And do they have a dramastic weight change?
   
3. I was hitting off a mat. Is it possible that the mat affected the flight conditions?
   
4. I sometimes catch my wedges fat. What will the ZB's do to my divot depth? It seems I can't take a divot with my Nike Slingshots.
   
5. I am a junior and these clubs need to last me a while. The reason I am leaning towards the ZB Forged is because of workability. The AP2 sole is much wider then the ZBs and ZM (the full blade set). I know this leads to more forgiveness, but I want something I can maybe use till college(I'm 12, in sixth grade)
   
6. I play in the NorthEastern US, but sometimes go o Myrtle. Conditins range from extremely wet to dry. Witch do you think best suits my game?
   
7. Will I be able to hit them? I have a 14 handicap and it is continuously dropping. My SS is between 75-85 MPH. My distances arer below:
   

Driver:200-210 yards

3-Wood:200(tee/ddeck)

22* Hybrid: 160 yards

4i-150 yards

5i-140 yds

6i-130 yds

7i-120 yds

8i-115 yds

9i-105 yds

PW-95-100 yds

SW-60 yds

Your swing speed, is that for your driver? I would assume so with your driver distance.

 

In terms of being able to handle the ZBs, go for it man. Do you like forged feel? Are you a fan of the PX or DG shafts? I personally enjoy the DG. I've tried the other iron shafts and they don't have the same weight, feel, balance of the DGs. You'll have to try them on your own. I think they're approx 10 grams heavier. If not, then you could always order custom shafts.

 

ZB looked nice, just depends on the age old question.....Irons you can shoot with with less practice or irons you can "grow" into. or a combo set blah blah blah.

 

Whatever irons you play, try them with your ball, with your swing, and try them on a course you frequent. Range balls are crap anyway. Do you have a shop that has full refund in 90 days? There are a few in town (San Diego), so golf purchases are less painful on the wallet.

No, that is my six-iron SS. I currently play graphite shafts, but my bro has PX 6.0's in his X_Forged. He loves them. Of course, they are two different clubs.The projector at the shop uses real golf balls(Prov's, Cally's, and some Bridgestones). BTW, How much extra is it to ccustom order shafts?

I'd guess you are going to grow a lot between now and college, so I'd just stick with the slingshots for a few more years. Probably not what you want to hear but it is sensible advice.

 

Plus If the AP2's are good enough for Adam Scott and a lot of the other touring pros, I wouldn't worry about them not being good enough for you.

Hello. I would try to demo clubs outside and on the turf before purchasing, if at all possible. Is there a reason you want to move on from the Nikes? Also, your wedges have some skinny bounces and in my opinion are more likely to hit fat than wedges with bounces in the 12 to 14* range.

 

Try them outside and give yourself the chance to dig a little.

get the ZB i looked at them today and they look great, i have the 735's and i love mine, however i would not get True Temper DG s-300, i have a 100mphish ss with my 6-iron and i play the rifle flighted 5.0's +.5 an inch and they are awesome they are like a soft stiff which is great when it's windy because you can control the ball so much more, also the shafts will probably be a 100.00 upgrade, and don't forget to get the 3 iron because it's great to practice with even if you don't use a 3-iron.

The Nikes are flat out UGLY. The 7i sole is pretty much a hybrid. The topline is at least 1 cm.The whistle from the cavity is extrememly annoying. I don't mind the wide sole in the ling irons, but the short irons look stupid. The loft hides some of the topline, but I can still see a majprity of it.They are not workable at all. I drove through the fairway once after I tried to draw it around the corner! I can work my driver, 3 wood, and hybrid fine. Also, any other suggestions on different iron sets?
