Tour Authentic FT-5 T

Release date? april 16th apparently.

I've been waiting on a 2008 Tour Authentic FT-5T & I've heard release dates from April 15th to middle of May. Does any one know when it's coming out?

Spoke to Callaway insides today, they are hoping to release these in the next few weeks. Already having issues with heads of all tour authentic's and Ibrids...UNREAL.

Yeah, a rep told me they were just getting in some of the components in. After the shortage of ft-3's I would have thought Callaway would be on the ball this time :russian_roulette:

So what is so different about FT-5 Tour's and FT-5 Tour Authentic's?

The face is way open (1.5 deg), however it isn't offered in a fade version. It seems to fly a little lower than the standard ft-5 tour as well.

Just played a round with the new FT-5t (8.5 with diamana 73 stiff blueboard). Friend at Cally let me demo while I was in town on business.

the hosel is closer to the face and the club does sit 1.5* open. The best looking driver I've ever seen from them. Just as forgiving as the regular FT5, but way better looking at address if your a purist. Would recommend for better players seeking a more open face angle and cleaner look...for others, I would stick with standard FT5.

Miss hits are just as forgiving as the normal FT5 and length was close to my Tour Edge Exotic driver (2* open face, with 70X protopype). Tour Edge is slightly longer for me due to a better fit shaft, but the cally is way more accurate on miss hits and had little to no loss of distance (biggest issue with Tour Exotic on miss hits IMHO).

After playing a couple rounds with it, I hit it noticeably lower than the stock ft-5. I think this may be a more forgiving alternative to the j33r 460 that many high launch, high spin players have been looking for. My 8.5 launches like a 7.5 and the ball flight is really flat. When it comes to distance, I have no complaints. I hit a ball 531 yards at lake chabot (18 is a 673 yard par 6 that is straight downhill) and a few others to places I have never been on my home course. As I mentioned earlier, my only complaint is that Callaway is only releasing the neutral and draw versions (as if a person wants an open face and draw weighting). No fade version will come out because of the lack of demand. :russian_roulette:

WAIT A SECOND! WHAT DID YOU SCORE ON THE 18th with only 142 left for your second shot on a par 6!!! did you get a 3 or 4? If you got a 6...well thats just sad, or the green is just hell, and you 4 putted... Next time I'm in the bay area...gonna check out that course!

I really wish they would offer a LCG version like the FT-i tour LCG versions. I guess they really want to sell more Ft-I drivers (I cant get over the bell pepper shape). I find it very lame for Callaway to hold out on that.

I hit my pw over the green, chipped on & two putted. It's not easy to hit off of a 45* downslope, even if it is for tipple eagle.

I agree that there is NO distance issue with this driver and am betting that when I get mine (8.5* with 73g X flex Diamana whiteboard) that It will be at a minimum as long as my Tour Exotic if not longer. Definitley longer on miss hits.

 

Hey Boba...you must have a friend at Cally too...We've got very similar bags. I feel like a walking billboard for Cally sometimes, but the stuff just works!

I just got one in my shop for one of my employee's. Best looking club on the market. 8.5 diamana white 83 x flex. Way too much club for me. Hit it right every time. He drills it though. It got here yesterday. Great tour authentic box it came in also.
