:cheesy: It's a 9 wood bent 4° open to play like a 5 wood. If you bend an 18° club 7° open it will effectively have 11° of loft if the face is square upon impact :cheesy:

You might use a belt sander to grind out a rock ding or grind off the bounce of a wedge or iron.  There are many different things that you could use that sander for.  Ever done any club work???

Iron covers on forged irons definately if the bag is going on the plane!

 

Anyway, no shame man, nothing wrong with taking good care of clubs! Love your irons - my swing coach makes me kiss my irons :busted_cop: after a good shot ;)

i use them not becos i'm obsessed about avoiding bag chatter. but I'm more concerned abt hiding my set from view. if u cant see wats under the covers the less tempted someone will be to try n steal them.

i used them for about a month when i first bot my mp-32, thinking to myself i'm going to try and keep these baby's looking nice.... After some of the covers started unraveling from the stitchings i got rid of them. chatter marks give character to the irons anyways.

As I've said before, I think iron covers are alright. Just don't judge others life judging a bookby its cover.

On the subjectof protecting irons, I reckon those iron racks are even worse. What do you guys think?

Ive seen a bunch of you guys' WITB threads and haven't seen any of you use iron covers, I personally do use them.  I was just wondering why or why not you do/don't use them.  I can see not using them if ya don't ride, but other than that any reasons?

Never ever used covers on my irons. Just doesn't seem right to cover them. I just wipe them off after each shot. As far as clanging while i wlak i normally just drape my towel over them and that seems to minimize any clanking.

I used to, when I first bought my forged Hogans. HOwever...........no matter how careful I am with the irons, they got all dinged up any way (see picture). So now - I only use the ironcovers when traveling, to protect from airplane/airport bashing.

I just think that irons are tools, if they get dinged who cares? Bag chatter doesn't change how the irons play.

When i get new clubs, pretty regular occurance lately I will use iron covers, but then after about 3 or so round's they start to drive me insane. I've generally lost a few and fall down the bottom of the bag so I give up and go without. I only have a cover on my driver all the time.

I use them but restrict use of them:

 

I will take them off before a round or I will leave them on but take them off as I use a club during around and put them away.

 

I will clean and dry clubs after a round and put the covers back on.

 

I don't think it is good form to put them back on during a round - the covers on a moist or slightly dirty club will promote rust.

 

I think it is wise to use them smartly.

That's a "no" for me on the iron covers. Yes for putter and woods, but not for the irons.

Also I dont see anyone use them but the old timers around Michigan and down south. Very rare.

 

I allready miss the sound of spikes. I like the irons clicking around. Feels natural.

Yep, thats the way I feel as well.

Being a ho of some level, one SHOULD use covers to keep the resale value of the sticks, but.......NO GO

(my LT 04 tours don't get nicked anyway i the bag)

I treat my irons like tools... no covers, I rarely even wash them, I just scrumb the grooves before I play. I really dig beat up clubs.

Iron headcovers are only destined to get lost. I have found a handful of these while playing.

 

On the other hand, there is nothing more horrible than a beaten up quality putter or an excessively scrathed driver/woods. Cover these!

like my nike split cavity.. I dont use them, but my rac protos I will...when it's wet out (rain) I wont use them either.

I don't like to use Iron Covers. However, I have a set that I use when I'm flying to try and avoid any unnecessary dings and scratches. Other than that - no iron covers for me.

I use them everywhere except on the course. They go back on right after the caddy cleans the heads and don't come off til its time to play again. Have to make sure they are dry though.

 

Also to the first poster. I guess the pics of WITB don't have irons covers because we want to see/show the clubs????

They just take the players look out of a bag. You could have the hardest to hit clubs in the world, but with headcovers on them, I'll just laugh because I think they are funny, lol.

i kind of laugh when i see them, epsecially when they are on some brand new clubs in a staff bag belonging to someone other than a tour pro. i understand that people want to protect their investment, that's fine. for me, i like my clubs a little beat up. when i get a new wedge i love hitting balls to get it scuffed up.

Unreal how many strong opinions people have on some little old iron covers.

 

After how many iron sets I went through last year, a $10 set of iron covers helped me retain 100% of their value. So they probably saved me $300.

 

I'll take that return on an investment any day. :clapping:
