No one's heard of these Fuji shafts, have you?

Hello,

I am a new subscriber to GolfWRX, but have been lurking here for quite a while. I recently bought a set of Miura Giken irons on ebay. I bought this particular set because of the shafts, as I am 61 and don't have the SS for most of the Miuras around. They came with a set of Fujikura shafts in regular flex. I googled the shafts and got only a couple of obscure hits, but nothing definitive. Thought if any place would know, the people here might.

They are called "Flyrun professional balance by Fujikura" and have the "S for shaft" logo the same as many of the speeders have. I regripped them and they have a butt label, but it is different from the usual Fuji label. I emailed Bill Holowaty at Miura B.C., but without success. I called Fujikura and drew a blank, and I emailed a pretty well know blogger in Palo Alto who is a Mirua and Fuji dealer and even he had not heard of them. HELP!

Also any information on the heads would also be welcomed. They are Miura Giken "MG Special Edition CB-1003"

Welcome to WRX! They are most likely some type of Japanese specific graphite shaft...

Miura Giken means Japanese market only so Vancouver wouldnt have any info. The "S for shaft" signifies, I think, shaft is made in Japan. Miura Giken has been using graphite shaft by NGS as stock for the past few years so the Fuji could be after market or the clubs could be a few years old. It would be interesting to see a picture of the graphic.

Interesting about the "S for shaft" designation, thanks.

The shafts are marked on the butt tag with the iron number they are designed for, even though they are 370 tip which I thought was kind of odd. I measured the freguency and it was close, but not to the standard I would have thought for Mirua. It's possible they were re-shafted in Japan, the ferrals have a unusual color combination and when I regripped them I wiped the heads with solvent and the plastic reacted oddly, as if it's a different kind of plastic.

The CB-1003 suggests an older model as neow models are 1006, so I wondered if that would indicate '03 model?

Would shafts only produced in Japan be tested for safety standard? My Mamiya AXIV and Diamana White (flower band) do not carry the S for Shaft logo. I know they are not produced in Japan.

I dont know any specs, but they are "very old" fujilura has not used that kind of wording on shaft graphics in years. I have and old HM4 that using that wording.

on the older shafts they had that s symbol...but lately on the newer shafts i havent seen them that much...dunno if theyre still testing them or if the newer shafts are that much better that they dont have to test them anymore...
