Neither! If I had a choice. If I was forced, Wigwam(as long as it is the main course) in a heartbeat!! Desert Canyon is junk(being nice)!!

Wigwam (Gold) is the hands down choice. A Robert Trent Jones design, compared by many to the South Course at Firestone Country Club, and host of the Patriot Collegiate Tournament. Tom Lehman just finished a re-do of the bunkers in September.

I wouldn't play Desert Canyon if it was free. Wigjam Gold isn't bad except on the weekend it is usually very slow.

No freakin Joke! Foothills is virtually a junkyard these days, Club West is ok if you feel like staring at houses and bad grass; Stonecreek - for me should be blown up.

That list looks like a joke list. Seriously foothills is actually a nice layout that has been ruined by years of neglect, club west same problem. STonecreek is just....just....so....

I remember when I was looking into my first trip in 99 America West recommended ASU Karsten, San Marcos and Orange Tree to their credit they told me if I want true desert experience Legend Trail would be an option. Scottsdale Golf and Lodging gave me a much better selection. But after 4 or 5 trips I realized I was better at making choices myself

Meridan Condo Resorts, the trip was booked very last minute so we got stuck trying to book accommodations, as everything was booked. I ended up paying a few extra bucks to play Raven at Verrado, QUintero, and Verde River. I thank all you guys for your input, probably saved the trip!!!

Those courses are worth (far) more than a few extra bucks, especially compared with the courses you started out with...

Vistancia is in great shape. Only issue out there is that the pace can drag sometime.

Head north an hour to Wickenburg Ranch. Those greens will test you.

Wigwam gold yesterday. They've made s bunch of changes and every one is good!! What are the chances? Got rid of some poorly placed bunkers and now there are a lot of chipping areas that collect balls. Grew the rough in to slightly change driving lines. Added a couple of bunkers on the proper side of the dogleg. And got rid of Buick buried under 8th green!

Headed back to Scottsdale beginnning of March. This thread has been great in the past. We played Southern Dunes and Tegevah (Verde River) two years ago and both We-Ko-Pa courses last year. I also always play one round at Dobson Ranch with my Grandpa because he lives near there. I need some help with my schedule this year. I won't pay $150+ for one round.

 

1. Sunday 3/6 - Dobson Ranch

 

2. Monday 3/7- want to play 27 or 36. Had the following options in mind.

- Driving down and playing all 27 at Dove Mountain

- TPC Champions (walking) and trying to get an afternoon rate somewhere in Scottsdale (Sunridge?)

- Golf Club of Estrella and catching the Reds game

 

3. Tuesday 3/8- Wickenburg Ranch

 

Thoughts? Specifically for Monday. You all have led me the right direction the past two years so hoping you are more help again this year.

Need some advise. I'm heading down the first week of March and I'm looking for two rounds. My wife is attending a conference and we are staying in Old Town Scottsdale (Firesky Resort). We have been there once and I played Talking Stick. It was fine but I was looking for something else. Played Troon North probably 15+ years ago and I was thinking of heading back. I'm not sure if there are better options closer to the hotel and how bad is traffic. Google maps says a 30 min drive but not sure if that is realistic. I also looked at We-Ko-Pa but again, not sure about the distance. I will have a rental car and will be playing as a single. Any and all advise is greatly appreciated. Gray hawk sounds nice as well. I understand there will be no deals to be had. Seems $225 is the going rate.

Traffic is rarely bad other than real rush hours. Troon North is 30 min from Old Town. Grayhawk is 22 or so. We Ko Pa is a little more. none of these are far away.
