GRRRRR! ED commercial

[Yuck]

I was just enjoying watching delayed coverage of the Open, and there was a psuedo commercial break which highlighted the famous 1977 "duel in the sun" between Nicklaus and Watson. Of course this was highlighted as a "Viagra Moment" that changed the game. My smart mouthed 17 year old daughter commented that she did not think Viagra was around back then and wondered why golf caused so many ED problems. i am sure Jack and Tom don't appreciate that classic battle referred to as a Viagra Moment. I understand the need to push pharmaceuticals and advertising does help pay for TV coverage but the Golf / ED / Viagra / Cialis connection has gone too far. I am sure most of us don't need the product, or if we do, we don't need to be reminded during a golf telecast. I am not a prude but I am fed up and wondering if i am the only one.

It definitely can get awkward to say the least. We had a family party for one of my cousins at my house during US Open week. Sure enough as pretty much everyone in my family (young and old) is watching the round, an ED commercial comes on. Just what I want to see when in the company of my grandparents and young cousins.

Well - other than my 10 year old daughter asking - why do all the billboards of 'Gentlemen's Club's' on the highway have pictures of women....shouldn't they have pictures of Gentlemen?

These ED commercials are obnoxious. There should be some way to block them.

As annoying as it may be, I'm sure these commercials are working for them. Especially during golf. Look at the "stereotypical golf demographic"....overweight male with a "weak flex shaft". No wonder they put these commercials on there.

 

 

The only thing they forgot is that the typical demographic has shifted somewhat, and now golf attracts a younger audience. Profit figures will tell I guess.

I love those commercials, funniest thing ever. But i can understand the problems some have described.

We don't get these over here, so i only see them when i'm watching golf on the internet.

 

The one with prostate medication is another classic, shrinking the prostate is symbolized by the piece of paper he throws in the bin, and the fact that he is a model builder of course :)

It's really gotten out of hand. I was at a bar that had a blues jam recently, and one of the guitarists jammed against the riff from the Cialis commercial. :)

These ads run everywhere! Inculding Disney, Nickelodean.

Anyone rember when cable was being first rolled out and touted as "pay TV"? As in you payed for the service, so you wern't supposed to have to watch advertising like the free over the air stations had.

Update since my first post in this thread: college grad, masters degree, a wife, a house, a dog, no kids, still hit the ball 360 into the wind. Aforementioned grandparents long since passed away though. See everyone again in 14 years.

I can't seem to watch anything on network TV or sports related without seeing one.

The only time I watch network tv is if golf is on.  Maybe that has something to do with my perception.
