Mizuno mp 52

I just had a chance to hit the new 52 today at a demo day here in Maryland. In my opinion they are slightly more forgiving than the 57. According to the Mizuno rep they will start shipping these early september.

 

 

Can you comment on the feel (which I know is very subjective) compared to some other Miz irons, such as the 32's or 60's?

I would say that the feel is more like the 57 than the 32. I have limited experience with the 60 but as I remember it was similiar to the 57 (maybe a little bit softer). Obviously the cavity has somewhat of an effect on the buttery Mizuno feel. However, it still has that mizuno quality. What I liked best is that you could tell instantly when you mishit it but when you looked up you still got pretty playable results.

did you get a chance to look at the 62's, and if so, do they look incredibly small, or about the same size as the older 60's and 32's? I just saw the video of these two irons and man they looked much smaller than what I thought they would have...even smaller than their 67 blade. I'm hoping it was simply the effect of the video.

I only just glanced at the 62 but it really didn't look that small to me. Maybe slightly less heel to toe than the 60.

I agree, the Mp62 looked ridiculously small and thin in that video - the thin sole looked like one of the razor blades from my newly acquired Gillette Fusion Power blades - very very thin and anti shovel like soles :)

 

Almost negative offset - just kidding, but very very blade like cavity back indeed ;)

 

I'm up for a combo set of 4-5-6 Mp52 and 7-8-9....maybe PW (if the PW looks OK, or I'll custom order a Scratch TD PW) Mp62 - think this will play awesome for me ;)

they've ditched the "cut-muscle" for a "dual-muscle".

I don't really know if the cut muscle did anything as far as feel. I've hit several of my friends mizuno's and compared to my irons: It just doesn't feel like the cut muscle provided any additional feel or forgiveness.

 

Id be interested in hitting these MP52's. It seems like a smaller version of their mx-23/mx-25 versions. Could they be gunning after the Srixon I701's?

I bought a set of I701's Tours for my cousin and they were ridiculuously forgiving and maybe a club length longer. Of course, his shafts were lighter (Nippon) than my PX's.

I got a look at these today. Great looking iron at address!! Wish they had a set of lefties but I don't expect to see those in stores. I may make the switch from the 25's I currently play.

I've played Mizuno for the last 20 years or so. I've had T-zoids, MP-37, MP-30 (loved them all. MP-57...didn't really like them, but I think it is more that I didn't like the Project X shaft.

I hit the MP-52 the other day along with the MP-62. The MP-52 felt great. The 62 was much less forgiving. Both look great. One of the things I did not like about the 57 was more offset than I am used to. I think I will end up with a set of MP 52s with Nippon shafts and the MP 57s with the PX shafts will be on Ebay.
