Anyone? Bueller..?

I recently started bagging a new sand wedge that is one of a few that were sent over in the summer by a friend in the U.S. and, in Bobby Jones-speak 'it's a brand with which I am not familiar...'

It's a good wedge and I'm already a fan of it, but being the curious type that I am I'd like to know a bit more than I currently do about the product and the manufacturer. Thus far, all I know is that the wedges are a pretty rare sight, and although I've spied them in the bags of Greg Norman, Colin Montgomerie and Angel Cabrera, I've not seen hide nor hair of one in the bag of a UK amateur. I know that the manufacturer is a small outfit based somewhere in Florida who evidently don't have a website. I'm led to believe that there may be some connection to Gary Adams (of Taylor Made fame) somewhere in the mix.

Any help would be appreciated.

IIRC they were popular in the mid to late 90's. I remember seeing quite a few in bags when I was a beginner back then. :swoon2: Wish I could give you more info, but I don't know much about them.

They were done by Nelson Adams, I believe he is Gary's brother. They were hot for a short time. I have a 52* somewhere.

I live a few miles from Cleary Road in West Palm Beach. I will swing by and see what is up if you like. It is kinda on my way home from work.

This guy knows alot about Top players who chose Iron Nelson Wedges. The PGA tour players liked the design and performance and would put them in the bag where they would stay until the manufacturers they get paid by grind and shape one of their wedges

to match the features they like in the Iron Nelson. It is hard compete with the big companies, but for a period of time Iron Nelson had it's good times. Greg Norman had his biggest pay day with one of these in the bag winning the 2001 Skins Game taking the whole $1million.

Gary Adams is the brother of Nelson who worked for Gary at Founders Club and McHenry Metals. Iron Nelson started in 1998 and Gary died in 2000

I'm sorry to say the wedge is sidelined at the moment in favour of a Vokey, but will no doubt make a return to the fray at some point.
