Is there any difference between this and the last generation in performance?

Yeah, I too would be really interested in knowing whether or not there is a difference. I am forever in search of a new golf ball, a golf ball of the week if you like. :man_in_love:

They have not come in yet to the place I buy my golf stuff from, I am very interested in how they play compared to the old ones. I am very interested in the new one compared to the Prov1x which I play now

in addition to the new box design, it's also a new ball design (new in the US, anyway). old B330 is a 3-piece. new B330 is a 4-piece.

If you're talking about the 330-RX, I bought a sleeve and played 18 holes with them. Currently a 6.0 index (driver head speed 95-100).

 

Good news: They are long off the driver (+15 yards), long off of irons (+10 yards) & long off of wedges (+5 yards).

 

Bad news: for me they are "hot" on chips and off the putter.

 

 

Playing the Mountain Course at Cinnabar (San Jose), with very little warmup with the ball on the practice green, I went double, double, bogie, bogie, double, birdie, birdie, birdie, par.

 

First ever birdie string of 3 in a row and a sloppy but strangely satisfying 41.

 

Note: the two first birdies were from wedging to 3 & 4 feet and the third was a chip-in. In each case I was much closer to the greens than usual, due to the length of the ball on full shots.

 

But I think 4 of my 8 lost strokes on the first 5 holes were due to blasting putts past the hole and three jacking.

 

Note that I am used to the Cally Tour I and the ProV1X which have very calm green-side manners, but if I can calibrate to the 330-RX in subsequent rounds I think I may have a new gamer (especially for soft courses).

My head speed is in the low 120's so the rx is't made for me. I was leaning towards the B330 since I can compress the ball just fine.

I tried the new 4 piece B-330 S at the Bridgestone ball challenge. I was fitted for the older B-330S (3 piece), so the tech guy asked if he could "do a little experiment" with the new 4 piece. I said absolutely!! I only got two driver hits with it, but it was baaaaad. My spin went up 600 RPMS! With the older model I was 2600. With the new model I was 3200 RPMs... Granted i may have not made very good swings. He said to give it a try once they come out. I should like it, but so far not good. I hope it was just two bad swings, but FWIW I was VERY consistent all day long except on those two swings.

my driver SS for the above trial was 102.4 MPH.

I really need to give it another try to confirm only two swings with the new 4 piece B330S.

The old B330S and the new RX were giving me almost the same exact numbers (2600 back spin) but the RX felt clickier... not as muted/soft as the 3 piece B330S.

I just bought a box today & I'll play 5 rounds in the next 4 days with them, so I'll post results as soon as I get out there and play them. I hit a few putts with them & they feel a little clicky when compared to the Prov1x, tp red & Nike one black rotation I usually play. My finger nail leaves a mark in the cover of the new ball, so the cover is pretty soft. New B330 spins same off driver and more off irons than old B330.

 

New B330-S spins less off driver and more off irons than old B330-S.

 

Both are 4 piece as mentioned for faster swing speeds.

 

New B330-RX is 3 piece, spins the least off the driver of the 3 balls, but also spins the least off of the irons. Could possibly affect 5 iron - 9 iron spin into green, but should have virtually the same spin off the PW and chip shots around the green because at swing speeds that low you are using nothing but the cover to generate spin anyways, and all 3 balls have the same urethane cover. The RX is also the softest compression of the 3 and should feel the softest off of all clubs.

I have a sleeve of the new B330 and B330S I will be playing this weekend and will let you know. My driver ss avg is 117. The 330s is softer thats for sure. I was putting around with them and the 330 has more of a click off the putter compared to the 330s. I love bridgestone golf balls so we will see if these are better than the previous version.

So after my last two rounds with this ball and I can say without a doubt that this ball is not for me. I hit a low ball with a lot of spin so I can appreciate a ball that drops and stops rather than spinning back off a green, however on delicate shots around the green, this ball acts more like a pink flying lady than a prov1. The ball has quite a hard feel for a tour level ball & not nearly enough spin around the greens for me. Pitch shots don't check up so short side shots are brutal with this ball, yet I didn't hit this ball any farther than the nike one black, tp red & prov1x I usually play.

I finally tried the new 330s yesterday. I don't think I like it as much as the old 330s. For some reason I can't seem to get it to spin nearly as well around the greens. The spin is fine from 80 yards out, but around the green I just can't get it to check very well. Funny because with the old model 330s I didn't have this problem at all. Maybe it was because I was playing off of bent grass fairways yesterday, something I haven't done in probably 10 years?
