Matrix ozik ID, help!

As per topic, got a Yonex cyberstar 22* rescue in for a re-grip tonight, formerly owned by the man himself.
Now, the odd bit. The shaft. Ever seen an ozik plain jain grey colours? Almost like a prolaunch platinum scheme.
The sticker reads M95HTS2 295CPM I have pictures and will post soon.

Any ideas?

Thats a noodle scratcher... Emailed Matrix about it? Only thing that springs to mind is Yonex tried to mix the colour scheme in with their stock shaft like TM do maybe?

No idea, don't really fancy emailing matrix, the horror stories of being accused of handling stolen goods or getting someone in trouble isn't worth the effort. Not sure if they are as protective these days, but they used to be. Its more out of curiosity than anything. I've seen a couple of unique things, but this is a new one. Awful looking head though :P Yonex must be paying well to play these LOL

According to your sticker reading of "M95HTS2", that is a Matrix shaft from slightly before the OZIK family existed to the public. Before OZIK was around, Matrix made plenty of good shafts, and made a series with that part number. The "HT" stands for high trajectory. They made the same thing in "LT" - low trajectory models as well. S2 stands for the flex designation, if memory serves me right, S1, S2, S3 were the stiff subflexes, X1, X2, and X3 were the X-flex subflexes.

 

Anyone here remember the old flame graphic hybrid shaft they used to make? That was a good one.

So its an older model shaft with newish graphics perhaps, a transition from old to new in a way?

 

Can we assumed the weight is roughly 95g from the code?

My guess is it is the early release of the Altus (HT) as opposed to the Infra (LT) with a special paint job for Yonnex. Matrix does a lot of the special paint jobs and that looks a lot like their current Studio line. The original Altus and Infra hybrid shafts that we got in were dark grey in color. Yes, I would assume 95 grams but they tested at least 98 uncut.

It's an old Matrix that came out before the altus and f7m2 and all of them. I believe this shaft was actually used as a tour only proto for awhile before they released it for this head. You won't find many of them. How is it??

I agree that it's probably an Altus hb prototype. S2 would normally mean a middling Stiff but 295 suggests an X. If you can, take a look at the tip or butt in cross-section to see if there's a tan layer in the layup. If there is, then it's one of the few Altus hb protos with Zylon and as such even rarer.

Its not mine and is back with the customer, if it comes back in(hes a tweaker, so it may well do), ill take a looksee. He did say its a nice highlaunch club, I wouldn't say it felt like an X, but it was certainly stouter than your average S I guess. Thanks for the insight.
