I've gotten into tinkering with clubs big time this year, built my irons this year as well as much tinkering with other odd clubs. Have a good number of the tools listed here which I find encouraging, like Grum I've built mine bit by bit as I've gone along, although I don't have nearly as much in my modest workshop as he has.

 

This site and this forum in particular has been a massive help to me as my journey into clubmaking continues. I've learned tons from some of the guys on here, all free info too. Thanks to all!

 

Finally, anyone know where I can buy a ramrod in the UK? Wouldn't mind getting one for installing weight in some shafts.

Golfsmith europe or diamond will sell you a ramrod, you will need an account with them. If you can't get one give me a shout and I'll stick one on my next order for you if you'd like.Depending on the length you require, you can make one. I have one built for doing irons that is basically a length of steel rod bought from B&Q with a diameter that will clear the tip of a steel shaft. You can put a wooden handle on it easily, and if extra length is required, you can fiind someone who's good with a welder and get one up at 46~ inches easily.

If you are just learning then there is no reason not to learn the new technology. It is not complicated and the Swingweight system is outdated. Why would you take your 2008 golf clubs and apply 1920 technology to it. It seems like a waste of time to not use new technology on your new technology clubs. You will not regret moving to MOI matching. It truly makes your clubs swing the same.

 

 

In my Opinion,MOI is a joke.It has its merits,but its not for everyone. These clubs are way too short and light for my taste. I've had a few sets built to try out and just didnt care for it.
