Old school bag (last century)

Yes, I still play with these clubs...

I haven't played much the past 5 - 10 years, so haven't really payed attention to all the new technology that's out there at the moment. Not that it would have mattered as I'd probably still be playing the same irons/woods. Am trying to find a Ping TISI Tec 10.5 degree driver with a stiff shaft though, so I am slowely taking my first steps into the new century. On the other hand, I may also have my old Slazenger Ben Hogan Persimmon driver refinished and reshafted this winter, so that would make my bag even more old-school.

Particularly the 1 iron and the driver - both of which I've played in the past; the driver the exact same loft and shaft. I've even still got a couple of old Ping L8 carry bags in my cupboard...

 

I won't ask about the tee shot with that 1 iron.

not much temptation when you're only playing once or twice a year. have been spending most of my money on records though, so i have just substituted one addiction for another. oh, and the records need to be stored in the house... and eventhough i only visited the driving range twice this year (this month) i still managed to buy two "new" putters on ebay this year (ping mlt & ping danser)

I love that Taylor Made driver. That was the greatest thing since sliced bread in 1988 or 89. I played with one just like that. The one iron also. I was always partial to Ben Hogan irons though. Played that putter as well. Thanks for the pics.

sweet bag man...Didn't Tiger play the same driver before (in a DG-X100 shaft)? I remember that I once saw a pic of his bag before he turned pro and he was using Burner driver and spoon that time....

 

I particularly like your irons man. The oldest stuff I have now is MP-14. If I had started play golf earlier, I would have probably bought the same sticks...

I would probably have ended up with Ben Hogan irons for the rest of my life had they not been so expensive around the time i got my first own set of irons. I was 13 or 14 years old and had been playing (Slazenger) Ben Hogan Precision irons the previous year (or two). Loved the Hogan Apex blades around back then ('88 or '89), but ended up getting Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear irons (I think the Hogan's were at least twice as expensive). After that I bought these Daiwa's.

Dunno about the driver, but I would not be surprised. The Taylor Made metalwoods were more or less the norm in the late 80-ies/early 90-ies. That is, if you had made the switch to metalwoods.

 

I do however remember reading here once that Tiger also played these Daiwa irons when he was still an amateur ('92).

yeah, those are great bags. I still have a light blue L8 bag as well (well it used to be light blue, it's almost brown these days).

i really like the look of those new PING moon-lite II bags though. i may end up buying one of those once they come out here.

Sweet old school bag. I love the TM driver, we have an old burner 3 wood at work, i'll go out on to the range and just hit ball after ball with it. They're so easy to work compared to a lot of woods these days.
