Yes, but Kyoei offers these heads to whomever wishes to buy them (in quantity)

Shuttle is right on target. Yonex bought the very same head as Vega's Anniversary offering from Kyoei and produced a Yonex Limited Edition set, one of which was played by the youngest winner on the Japanese Tour....His win definitely accelerated the sales of this special offering. One set sold for $1600.00US. I got to install KBS Tour shafts, then Pure/FLO the Yonex Limited Edition set and I can tell you first hand that Yonex did a superb job of it as the quality and finish is first rate. The Kyoei forging was very well done also as the spec's on the heads were very tight and weight progression was excellent thru the whole set.

I feel I should spread some light or truth behind these 'comments' about VEGA just buying blanks from Kyoei. If you actually do some research you will find that VEGA and Kyoei are strongly linked. VEGA started as Kyoei's top brand (a bit like Maybach to Mercedes). VEGA and Kyoei were owned by the same family. Up until recently it was basically the same company.

Recently they have now split into 2 completely seperate companies, owned by different members of the family. VEGA is VEGA and Kyoei is Kyoei. Kyoei will carry on producing stuff for other OEM, but VEGA will now have its own range. There will be no co branding and VEGA products def WONT be seen with other brands names on. VEGA will be made the luxury brand using different materials and techniques.

So in short there may have been some cross over of models between Kyoei and VEGA in the past but im pretty sure this will filter out as the two seperate further apart. If you equate it to the car industry as mentioned above it really is very similar to Mercedes and Maybach (or toyota and lexus) being their luxury brand

I happen to know this is gospel after talking to the head of Vega and the owner of Kyoei.

Hope this helps everyone.

So what I said is right. Kyoei forged the heads for Vega. If another OEM approaches Kyoei and wants them to produce the same head (it won't say Vega on it) they can and will. As far as quality goes it is up to the OEM that purchases these heads (blanks) as to the quality they wish to buy. The main difference would be the grade of steel.

I hope that none of my posts come across as a negative to Vega. That is far from my intention. Vega is an EXCELLENT company and puts out an outstanding finished product. The Kyoei forgings rival the best forgings in the world. I'm currently looking for a couple of different models that Vega makes.

HI, which models were you looking for? I hope I will be able to help!

As for the comments - the VEGA line is changing a little as you will see from www.vega-golf.com

The new wedge grinds etc are exclusive to Vega as are certain iron heads. Using CNC milling on the cavity backs also sets Vega apart.

From speaking to our president in Japan, the Gold's Factory irons were extremely limited. The guy who owns Gold's Factory asked our president if he could buy a few sets and then 'did his thing' to them with his milling on the backs!

If I can help any further, let me know.

GolfGeek--

You're just a bit misinformed. The Vega name is still and has always been owned by Kyoei Golf. One member of the family formerly associated with Kyoei Golf has now left to dedicate himself to the expansion of Vega Golf as a brand, but make no mistake about it-- Vega is still owned by Kyoei Golf, and will thus continue to be the prime example of the foundry's craftsmanship and superiority.

There are still four worldwide distributions, and the "co-branding" of Vega and Kyoei will continue on the American and Korean models. There are two new models due out for Vega America (www.vegagolfusa.com) in the next month and both will be sporting the "Kyoei Golf" signature on the sole as well as the Kyoei "K" logo on the hosel. The European, Korean, American, and Japanese distributions are all finding great success and have altered their approach and products to their respective markets, just as any other company with worldwide distribution might do.

This is the "gospel" according to the North American Director and the owner of Kyoei Golf Industries, Japan, Mrs. Sakamoto (the founder's wife). I hope this might put to rest with the talk of these inter-family divisions and name ownership? Kyoei Golf owns the name "Vega" and regardless of whether or not you see it on the sole of the iron or which representative you spoke with, you can always count on the quality of a Vega Iron to be that which has been upheld by Kyoei Golf for over 50 years.
