Just ordered mine today and got the "Tai Treatment"... need to send Pure745 some love and give him credit. Per Bruce Rearick I need a FB putter and I WANT a DH89 so in Byron's infinite wisdom (and because my lie angle is flat at 68*) we are doing a long plumbers neck (with crazy twist) and he said he can nail the FB on the 89 with no problem... all while keeping the length of the neck legal.
Also chose the new Dark Rum finish.... more to come... with pics
what is this dark rum finish? The though of that alone makes me want to buy another. Do you have any pictures of the finish?
this is from PT, no pics yet on BM website.. I think he just came out with this finish in November 2014 time frame.... To me, it is his answer to oil can for stainless steel since it can't be done on stainless.

Joe,
i wonder how that will hold up to use. the brushed blue oil on stainless doesn't hold up all that well does it?
That is a very sexy finish either way!

Is there a difference in the finish process of the brushed blue oil and a plating?

Byron said that this will hold up very well, besides the sole, which leads me to believe that the process is different than the blue oil.

Very interested in this dark rum finish too, and good thing its inexpensive ;). I should placing an order for a byron soon as well, one to fit my specs. (Assume there are still LH 89s left.. fingers crossed)

But personally, i dont really care how the sole fares. Tools, not jewels right? As long as the rest stays perty.

Here are some photos of my gamer. Byron called this "brushed brown" when I ordered it back in the day, but this may be what he is calling "rum" now. This finish is EXTREMELY durable on stainless. I gamed this for over 50 rounds last year and barely had scratches on the bottom. This finish has been around awhile, just nobody seems to order this option.

Beautiful collection.

So is this Rum finish different than his Deep Water finish? Or is it the same just with a new name?

From what I understand after talking with him, dark rum is new as of November 2014 .

Damn that's cool as hell! Almost a mystic pearl (I think that's what put was called), blue oil, and satin oil can all in one. Although this pic might look that way to me I'm guessing it could be different. I'm just going off the spots where it seems the light hits the putter....

Putter looks awesome! I just ordered some PutterTape for my DH89/11 and TP mills Softail. It costs me $30 for two orders, and that's with shipping. It's $10 a piece and $10 for shipping. Also each order comes with two strips. So two DB89/11 and two Softail strips per order. Personally you only need one but he doesn't sell them that way. I had a strip on both DH11 and Softail it lasted for years and was still crazy hard to get off the sole of the putter. But it didn't leave any mess behind like stock shaft labels.

Definitely worth the look.

Not sure if posted in here but I'll post them again just incase. .1, also a before and after deal. Pic 1 old, and pic 2-3-4 new

First up is my DH11 in satin oil can that now has a torched oil can. He smoothed the satin finish up to slight polish and it looks cool. Although he left the face in it original satin finish so that way thehe didn't mess up the great mill pattern. Like everyone says it looks better in the sunlight. Currently I'm thrilled about this girl pics 2-3-4

Next ups a carbon 006 but with now a copper plate thanks to Lamount. Pics 5-

My understanding is the "deep water" finish is black and the "rum" finish is brown. I believe the process the apply both finishes is similar.

I believe his name is Jay Green. He used to sell putters for the TP Mills company. He's on here and Puttertalk. His screen name is glenwayputters. He used to be a sponsor here I believe....he had/has a leather company.

Has anyone heard a specific availability date for the 615? I'm pretty bent on getting a Byron and after all my lusting and planning for a 006 I've just discovered they're discontinued and no longer available. Any idea if the new version will fall out at the same price point? Thanks - this thread has been my crack lately!!!

I bought a used Byron this week (my first) but PP somehow re-defaulted to a 3 year old address (which I failed to catch on my phone) and now I'm waiting an undetermined amount of time for it to be redirected and then arrive. Please someone post some new pics to soothe this burn!

well... it is coming to that time... the final stretch... it is halftime now as Byron called today to go over the stamping I wanted and we came up with some good ideas.... so stamps today, off to get the dark rum finish then it's grip, ship and rip. Or was it grip, rip and ship?? haha... here is some pics of the crazy twist on the long plumbers neck. Byron also tweaked the lie angle with me on the phone to get this puppy fully face balanced.

Can someone list and describe the different face milling options available?

I have looked around, and see there are different options like CNC and hand-milled Tuna, just curious about all the options and the details of those options.
You can email Dave or Steve on the Byron website and they can walk you through it. Basically any of the "hand milled" options besides the standard deep milling are a 100.00 upcharge.

I've had this Byron for a few years now. I traded a buddy of mine a few Fuji shafts for it. I can't tell what model it is though. It has a tri sole, nickle finish and the wake milling (I think that's what its called.) Would this be something I could send back to have more stamping, etc on?

Face milling pattern is called Twilight Zone.

And yes, you can send it to Byron to have more stamps added. Nice putter there.

If the finish actually is nickel (plating over carbon steel), it would likely have to be refinished. If it's just a media blasted stainless steel, then I bet he can just stamp her up and send it back.

Well. Here she is before going off to the Dark Rum spa. Byron said He should be getting her back any day now. These are the onky 2 pics he sent. Nothing of the face. Reminds me of those makeover shows where you don't see the face til the final second........or so I've been told about those shows.
