I think so. I know the black oxide was done by BOS. I purchased the putter of Ebay from an individual that I believe is a member on here.

That must have a really great feel to it AC. It’s a beautiful milling that I need to take some better photos of myself. The 612 headshape is hard to beat as well, I should get one in GSS... I’ve been dreaming of a tour satin gamer.

Holy details, Batman!!! I'm pretty sure Byron is a "feel" kind of guy and the picture should suffice for his stamping purposes, so long as it is pictured accurately. The only other thing I'd add if you haven't already noted it is a picture of the milling you'd like for the face. I found it helpful to scour the pictures on here for the right pattern and just copy paste it right into the design template you have above. His website is lacking 'user-friendliness' and pictures are worth more than words, as it's tough to make a mistake going from a well designed template vs. a lengthy paragraph of words & numbers.

 

You're going to love the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the finished product! He's only as limited as your designs, and some ideas are realized better than others.

? putters guys. Quit it or a bunch of people are gonna be 1k poorer soon. I bought one after seeing Mikey’s dh89 process thread and use an arm lock, wtf!? My league partner picked up a mixed metal 89 after I sent him this thread a year or two ago too.

No way would that happen...

I know Byron doesn’t make the Channel Islands head anymore, but thought I would show the amount of hand work he can do with a stock head. I couldn’t be happier with the look of the B-back matte blue oil. Such a unique Byron.

Another example of the amount of hand work on the same blank head shape. Both of these are DaKine heads. The SS matte blue oil is a squared mini with a pocket. The other is a carbon high polish blue oil 18 style. Not many would look at these and think they are brothers. ;)

For those of you that have tried both, how different is the feel with the fly cut milling vs the standard DH89 milling? I like a light milling and I’m trying to decide if the standard is light enough or it makes sense to go to a fly cut.

^I have a couple DH89’s and have had many others over the years. The deep milled ones are the only ones that felt a bit different. All the other face millings felt the same to me.

 

I went ‘fly cut’ on one of mine for looks, not function.

Thank you, that’s good to know. I’ll probably just stick with the standard milling then. I think I’m going to be ordering a carbon DH89 soon, and I told myself I can only do one upcharge, so it’s either fly milling or a cool finish.

I think that's a good choice. You'll be happy with the standard milling. It's what Byron calls tuna #4 which is in the middle of a deep mill / light mill.

When I bought my new DH89, I did so with the intention of reshafting it with a black shaft and putting on a Roll Abides grip that I had from a previous Byron that I owned. I did that yesterday, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I don't have a pool or the ocean readily available for a background, so the beer background was the best I could do.

I just got this one back with the offset adjusted and a refinish. The gray paint helped to minimize the look of all the extra milled design.
