Anyone gone back to "old" driver?

After playing several drivers of 'newer' tech, I just recently put my old Launcher Comp Tour w/ Graf. Axis shaft back in the bag and I am driving it better than I have in quite a while. I am really convinced that the classic shape and workablilty of some of the clubs of approximately 3 to 5 years ago has been lost and I am noticing a trend back to more traditional shapes, anyone else put an 'older' driver back in the bag and realized great play again?

I've bagged a few newer drivers but I always go back to my 905r, although it not THAT old.

Ericld- I also have a 905S w/ Graf. Blue that I use for windy conditions that absolutely hits bullets through the wind, love it! Gotta love the traditional Titleist pear shape drivers!

I'm still using a Sumo 9.5* traditional head and love it, although we got the new Dymo's in the proshop here last night and sit really nice probably going to get one now.

Still hitting a Cleveland Ti460 with ProLaunch Blue. Cannot find anything that looks as good or performs better. I think technology has begun to taper off since COR and head size is regulated, so any driver the past 5 years or so works well. I love it.

I was using my 907D2 last year, but I recently reshafted my old 905S and I like it way better!

+1 here. From 05-present, 905R-->907D2-->TMSQ-->TMSQ TP-->TM Burner TP-->905R. Not to mention a bunch of demos and launch monitor tests.

I was tempted at one point (and actually did) go back to a r510TP for a while... but the newer technology caught up with me and I had to try something new. Hitting a Tour Burner TP now and love it.

 

The technology advancement in drivers over the last 8 years has really, really helped me improve my golf game.

Well i may be cheep however i love the 905t and i cant justify spending money on an inferior driver. I passed on the 907 easily but i havent tried the 909 or the R9 which both look promissing. And just for kicks some days i throw in the Big Bertha Titanium from 04

Stickin with my '07 Burner TP for a while probably. Tried superquads, tour burner's, 907's, etc. Wanted to try a 909D3 but just haven't done it yet. I would go back to a Launcher Comp or a Tourstage X-Drive 405 anytime, those are still great clubs.

My brother - who is long off the tee, Dali llama long, games his trusty cleveland 460 comp. I have gone thru many drivers and now am back with the mizzy MX-500 from years past.

changed from ping g5 graff blue to a ping g10 graff red both 10.5 which was about 15yds longer butjust could'nt not control the g10 so ebayed and returned to g5! it's nice playing in the fairway again!!!!

My current Gamer D2 is fine by me. It's about as good looking as a 460CC can be IMO. I don't really have any interest in buyer any of the 09' models. I would love to find a 7.5 D4 Though I don't know if they ever made them.. :diablo:

All I own are "old" drivers. I have tried some of the newer stuff, but nothing has caught on with me. I'm all about snatching up old drivers for cheap too.

After a couple of long sessions on the practice ground last week I've provisionally gone back to an old 905S driver.

 

Mind you, I was still using a Nike Ignite 410 before that, so it's not really much of a backward step. :lol:

before the season i actually traded in my 2 drivers, for 2 older drivers from the same companies...kind of funny actually

 

went from 907D2 and Ping G10, to 905R and Rapture V1...then just to 905R

I went back to a Cobra SS310 tour.The heavy hitter in our group has the r7 superquad and I've always been envious of his drives.Put the old Cobra in the bag and was setting next to him in the fairway.Made me realize it's all hype.Plus some of the new models look like pie plates.

Well have recently gone back to my Adams BTY. Have had luck with R7 patriot but no luck with A4 adams. BTY is longest and accurate so I will stick with it for awhile.

Began last season with a 905R. Sold it and went through a 907D2, two G10s, two L4Vs, and a Tour Burner TP before ending up with another 905R...:russian_roulette:

I have a hard time finding a better driver for me than my TaylorMade 580XD TP 7.5 with Grafalloy BiMatrix Prototype.

That 04 BB Ti is a great driver - very forgiving and at 44.5", very controllable.

I go back to my R7 425. I just have a hard time squaring 460cc heads.

I "sold" my old NV shafted G2 to my partner knowing I can get it back if I want at any time. I'm trying to get the right shaft in my G10. Its always good to keep the security blanket close just in case.

I keep going back to my TM 425 TP. It is such a solid low spin driver.

Tried a few different ones. XTD Pro DFX2400, XTD A3, and went back to my R7 425.

I almost never sell a driver for just these reasons...I think I have all but one of my last 15 or so.
