Classics Replacement

Bad news about classics i know, but what is the replacement going to be? Will it essentially be a classic that isn't made in America? Any info would be appreciated.

The best Classics replacement is already on the market -- the Ecco World Class. They don't have as many styles but it is a much more comfortable shoe. Walter Genuin is better also.

Folks seem to think that they'll introduce a new "premium" line at a lower price point (made overseas).

 

They won't be Classics. That's for sure.

Interesting. Sounds like a hybrid of the Dry Joy and Classics or something along that line.

The replacement will be machine made and not the fine leather that we were used too. They have a shoe in the works, its VERY possible we may see it later in the year.

Personally prefer the other all white ones but they are very nice as well! I have white ones with a brown saddle. Don't have the picture of them and they aren't on the website any more but they literally fit like a glove and are amazing. Such a bummer thay are going.

Got those last year and I get a ton of compliments on them. I also have a pair of white with brown ostrich saddle, and white with orange gator print. I think I need to grab a few more pairs before they go bye bye.

I highly doubt Allen Edmonds will get back in the golf shoe business. The CEO is a family friend and I've asked him about it before, the response is always the same...golf shoes are a money loser for them. They've tried that market, and they failed at it. Alden on the other hand still makes golf shoes, despite leaving the mass produced market years ago. They are custom order only, so you'd have to have a sales rep contact them directly for details, and it will be quite a bit more expensive than Classics.

 

Having said that, there are still golf shoe companies out there that make leather soled shoes besides Footjoy and Ecco:

 

1. Stuburt - They make Darren Clarke's shoes, which look basically like Classics but in different colors. Not available in the US but you can find them online. http://www.stuburt.com/products.dcc2.htm?p...t&id=dcc_08

 

2. Nebuloni - They've been around for awhile and have possibly the most variety in this area, maybe even more than Footjoy. Miguel Angel Jimenez has been sporting them for years. http://www.nebulonishoes.com/

 

3. Vecci - They used to be a custom hand made Italian shoe, one of the suppliers for Payne Stewart. Back then the shoes were in the thousand dollar range. Now, you can get them brand new on Ebay from seller "bayoyprogolf" for around $200.

 

4. Par West - Completely custom shoe's made in Wisconsin. Another former supplier to Payne Stewart, they also do work for lots of celebrities. These will set you back quite a bit, $800 minimum for just a stock model more for custom models. http://www.parwestshoes.com/

 

5. Brooks Brothers - They've been selling high quality, but terribly publicized golf shoes for awhile now. Little bit more expensive than Footjoy, but around the same price as ECCO. http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatSection...;Section_Id=685

Too bad about AE. I figured that with all the leather soled shoes they pump out, modifying some into a golf line wouldn't be a big deal, but I am humble enough to take their word over mine.

 

The BB ones are nice, but not available in wide.

I am looking at purchasing the Chestnut and white pebble Tour Classics, White Pebble Grain Premieres as well as the White Croc Print/ Black Smooth/ White Mini-Pebble.

Yea I really need to find a way to get a pair! Wish I had access to the first deal I had when i got a pair for £120, amazing value.
