i just checked with tm japan vs us tm and the LIE andlges are BOTH the SAME!!!,, i know that the dgs shafted jdm are 1/4" short,, BUt the lie's are the same for US or JDM..

before you state things,, check your facts.. cuz your statement is wrong!!

I WAS TALKING ABOUT MY IRONS!! THE BURNER FORGED. Yes they are flat compared to other TM irons. Check again.

I may reshaft these with DGSL300's and when I do I will make them standard length for U.S. clubs.

that's what i'm concerned about and what bothers me.. cuz reshafting is going to be costly and you must consider sw's.i wish tm japan would let us really custom order!!

I agree as it would be nice to custom order from japan. I feel if you drop the coin on these irons then you must he super serious about your game so what's another couple hundred on the shafts you want. If you take them to a master clubmaker they will be able to get the SW correct.

now i totally disagree with your statement,, just because you spend over twice as much for these irons vs US high end players irons, DOES NOT mean you are serious about your game,, it just means you want something different.

i highly doubt these clubs are any better than my mp-62's or any club in that category.

it's just like your canadian 360 3.0's// they are not better than the US version nor are they better than the 360 ltd's,, just different.. a "posers" shoes!! hey i got some too,, in fact been gaming them this whole week!!

the 2009 JDM's are just as good as my mp 62's, but no one will have them where i play in the US..

so, i think by getting and dropping that much coin on them, they'd better come spec'd the way i need and want them.. if you've gotta spend a few more hundred dollars to get them that way, then i believe it's getting foolish..

To each his own. I do not think Manu casual holders who play a couple times a month would buy irons from Japan that cost this much money. That is where my comment comes about only serious players will buy these irons. I usually always reshaft my clubs so it is not a big deal for me to spend the extra money for this. If you are looking for the cool factor of playing clubs from japan that nobody else has then it will cost some money. Then if you want those same clubs from japan exactly the way you want them it will cost even more. It sucks but that is the way it is.

anyways,, you'll probably get yours this week,, so let me know how they are..especially how they compare to the 2008's!! i have the 2008's (along with my mp-62's) so i can rely on your comparisons of the 2!! can't wait til you get them.. i am still on the fence about them.. i am not too sure they are just too similar to the 2008's!!

Thanks and will do. I never hit the 2008's but was going to order them just when I found out the 2009's were being released. What shafts do you have in your 08's?

i got them with the std s200's. in 2008 they didn't have issues with length.. i have no idea why they are going 1/4" short.. probably due to the weight of dynamic gold vs. proj X and the head weight..

i was going to re-shaft to proj x shafts,, even had TM send me OEM ferrels .355". BUT the cost is just too much..just can't see investing a TOTAL of about $1800 ( incl. the 3 and 4 iron and reshafting) for a set that in 1 yr will have a value of $400-500

The 09 has less offset than 08 and is slightly shorter heel to toe. AND DCIMAN I CHECKED MY FACTS! This is according to Tario w/ Tour Spec Golf.

good for you..yes,, if you look at tourspec.com, it clearly states about the offset and head size.. but your statement about lie angles was so UNTRUE.. i'm glad you are now checking your facts, cuz you don't want to look like a jackass stating wrong facts..right???

If you like the DG S200 shafts you can always put a shaft extender in each club and save yourself a ton of $$$. Just a thought.

Actually, I was accurate. Some the JDM lines are flat compared to U.S. models such as the R7 (Non-TP), R7 Draw, TOUR BURNERS, BURNER PLUS, 2009 BURNERS just to name a few. Nonetheless, and I reiterate, I was speaking of my own irons in the Burner Forged in saying they came flat. Being there is no US counterpart to compare to, just like the 09 TP FORGED, telling me to check my facts merely had me only look to my own irons.

I know, I know, stick to the thread topic is your comeback... But next time you wanna call me out, check YOUR facts.

you said it all.. thread topic!! this thread is about the 2009 tp forged irons,, NOT gi clubs!! but players clubs..LOL!! mt facts are surely accurate if i post them.. yours was "caution,,, jdm are flat" if you woulda checked these clubs specs, you woulda seen they aren't flat.. then you wouldn't have even posted that statement, because this is my thread topic and i could care less if other clubs are flat.. i am the one asking questions about these clubs, and all i care abot are these clubs,, not any other jdm gi iron set..

so do me a favor and just do't reply anymore to this topic because you aren't adding anything positive or helpful here... ok??

thanks!!

I just read this whole thread, and you're the one who's coming off looking like a "jackass", not Pete. He was simply giving some information that he thought might be of benefit for the other people on this board. We are all now aware that you don't play game improvement irons nor care about their specs, and strictly use "players clubs". Get over yourself. :russian_roulette:

boys, boys let's not get all huffy over what you play :angry2: . Be it GI or player's clubs. BTW what do the pros use????? The key is how you handle them. Some of my friends laugh at guys who can't carry more than 5 iron :cheesy: , but hey if you can stick a hybrid close from 160, then YOU ARE DA MAN :golfer: . It's how many and not how. I actually am not a long hitter, I am good, but I certainly don't knockem out there with the big hittas. But get this.....I prefer blades...why??? I don't know but I hit them more consistently than say x forged. Perhaps it's the feedback, weight..Anyhow I play Apex 50s better than everything else that I have tried.... Crazy, but screw the GI vs player's arguement. It's what the old indian wants to use.... :beach:

But back to the thread....If TourSpecs has the balls to charge massive yen for JDM clubs, one should be able to call the spec shots maybe for an upcharge, but at least give the dude what he wants...Otherwise, DCIMAN :scotty: , buy just the heads and have a real expert like Darren at Kepler's in Walnut Creek, CA :superman: set you up with what ever shaft you want....Long Live the 4 hybrid!!!! Just kidding REAL GOLFERS use 3 irons...Just kidding again..Real golfer don't care and score low!!!!!! (cool)

Mine are in!!! Beautiful set of irons. They are a little more "sculpted" than the 08 model. Seem to be smaller too, could be my imagination since I sold my 08's a while back and have nothing to compare them too. Very clean looking from address. Solid set of irons. Could be the honey moon but who knows. My money is on these clubs now. Getting rid of the MP-32's this week so I can focus completely on the 2009 TM's. I'm extremely happy that they came the lengths that they did, I would normally have to cut them down. I switched out the standard tour velvets for Blk/W Multi Compounds last night. I have X100's installed. The face is standard, no swirls like last years verson. The back triangle muscle I guess you can call it that comes up a little higher probably to increase the mass since they slimmed down everything else.

Ball flight appears to be mid to high. Exactly what I'm looking for to stick greens. Misses seem to be more muted than my MP 32's. I can always tell if I miss hit an iron but I still want to be able to find my ball on the course. These clubs seem to allow me to do that. I was with my instructor last night and he kept telling me that some of my shots looked great even though I knew I miss hit them by virtue of the sound and feeling of contact. He has told me time and time again that the game is about minimizing the bad shots, not so much about hitting perfect shots all the time. First two rounds with these clubs will be this Saturday and Sunday. Possibly an after work round sometime this week if I get out early enough, we'll see.

NICE!!, congrats!!!

can you be a bit more descriptive re: your "sculpted" comment..

the '08's seem more rounded in the cavity and these look more like solid lines and angles from the pics.. can you comment?

also,, how do they feel compared to the '08's..???

is the finish a polished chrome like blades? the 08's are more satin in the face and sole,, and just around the cavity is polished.. what are these like??

thanks!!

They have less rounded look to them everywhere. There is a slight crease right below the top of the triangle in the cavity, kind of a cool asthetic thing probably more of looks than function. Toe is definitely more square. Offset is less throughout the set it seems. The head seems slightly smaller heal to toe, something I wanted since I ditched the 08's for my mizuno's because I liked the smaller heal to toe dimension. Feel is good, not too different from 08's. They are both solid clubs with slight modifications for looks and the smaller head will probably be better for when you are hitting out of the rough. The finish is polished chrome. Very bling blinging but subtle since there is only the TP badge and no TP logo. The entire back is the polished look except for right where the triangle area meets the cavity back, that is a little flat. If you liked the 08's you will love these if you are looking for a little less offset, more squared off and slightly smaller head. turf contact is nice too. Glides through the ground and takes nice divots. But of course those things can very depending on the swing and the turf conditions.
