I noticed a thread about what celebrity you may look like so it got me to thinking.......i know scary thought.
Are any of you related to any famous people?

I will start it off. I am related to Mickey Rooney of the Hardy boy Movies. His real name is Joe Yule. he and my grand father were first cousins and if you look at my father and Mickey they look like they are almost twins.

My great aunt was engaged to Sandy Koufax. My father-in-law jokes that he has leniage to Thomas Jefferson (doesn't everybody). My labrador retriever is a product of Nolan Ryan's kennel.

According to some geneology, reasearched by a cousin, Pocahontas was supposedly my grandmother like 12 or 14 generations back. It's supposed to be true, haha.

I'm cousins to Ted Sizemore (LA Dodgers, St Louis Cards), Pat Upton (Spiral Staircase band member 70's), and marriage related to Larry Nelson. Don't ask me how on the Larry one...my aunt has explained it to me one hundred times and I still don't get it. :)

I'm related to William Dawes who rode with Paul Revere on his midnight ride, and then there are a TON of Otis' in the revolutionary history that I am direct descendents to. No one too exciting! My cat isn't a relative of Hank Aaron's baby cat's litter... :)

Also, my godmother is Beverly Johnson, I'm not sure if she's a blood relation, but from what I know her and my mother are cousins in some way.

My cousin is Rowdy Roddy Piper WWF wrestler, I eat with him at all of the major holidays, and sometimes I put him in a head and arm until he squeals like a beotch, or, until he rolls over and breaks my arm, whichever comes first.

about the closest thing to "famous" in my family is my great uncle who happened to be General Eisehower's honor guard during World War 2.

The Tuskegee Airmen are a great American tradition, and one of the most famous contributors to the Air Force history(Army Air Corp at the time). I am retired AF, and just recently saw a traveling display on the Airmen. You should be proud, and I imagine you are.

On the aeronautical tangent, my Dad's mother's uncles are Orville and Wilbur Wright. So they'd be my great, great uncles? My Dad went back to Ohio last year to the BIG museum of flight and there was a hologram of Orville(?). My Mom told me that it brought my Dad to tears (he never cries) because it looked just like his Grampa (who would have been 1st cousins with the Wright brothers).

 

BTW, I'm a HUGE Nolan Ryan fan, maybe I'll send my Lab to you for some breeding :)

I'm related to a couple of old timers; Hoagy Carmichael, movie personality and song writer; and Happy Chandler, ex Govenor and Major League Baseball Commissioner. No one under 60 remembers either one of them.

I'm not 60 so I don't remember them...but I don't know of them both.

My senior year in high school I took an Urban Studies class at a local university, and part of that class was to construct a family tree complete with migrations. Through that, I discovered I was related to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Aaron Burr, Eli Whitney, and Jonathan Edwards :)

These people aren't really famous but I'm realated to

 

Ace Deshaes...i fogot his actually 1st name but thats what his nick name is that he goes by. Hes on my mom's side there 2nd cousins...He was a pro baseball player for the astro and twins in the late 80's and early 90's...he was a pitcher, shes played baseball with him when they were kids haha. I've only met him like twice though.

 

Sir Humphrey Davy...he was like my great,great,great,great, great,great uncle from england who was a huge scientist over there and wicked rich. He invented the coal miners lamp, invented aluminom foil or came up with how to make it or something to that effect. and a few other thin. O yea he was on my dad's side.

Senator Fulbright (from the Vietnam era and of the scholarship fame) I think he was a cousin of my grandfather, I never met him though.

 

Dog lineage- the black lab my family had was the brother of General Swarzkopf's dog. (sp?) He was the commanding officer of the base my family was stationed at when I was a kid.
