my 983K's best days are behind it...

alright, after one weekend and two full rounds with the 907 D2, i really couldn't be happier. it definitely has a different sound than the 983k and the 905. and the feel, while different, gives me much more confidence. what others said about not getting the same kind of feedback on mishits as you do with the 983k is completely true. however, my mishits are winding up in a much much better position, and i'll take that. my best shots feel like they are coming off the toe a bit (compared to the 983), and that's something i will definitely have to get used to. i'll also have to get used to exactly how it sits at address and what looks/feels best to me. but, the larger head size has been almost completely unnoticeable. so, consider me a 460cc convert.

i am able to fly it as high or as low as i need. i played saturday in the mountains, a lot of uphill drives, and was able to get the height i needed, no problem. sunday, i played Bethpage Red in 30 mph winds. it's a 7092 yard course which played into the wind most of the time. i was able to get a nice, low, boring trajectory when i needed, without any duck hooks, pulls, or balloons. i was even able to try working draws and fades, which is something that in the past caused me to hit a lot of ugly shots. i am in the middle of some major work on my driver swing, which is by far the most inconsistent part of my game. i did not feel i drove it particulary well either of these days but the club did not punish me as much as the 983k used to.

anyway, this is just one man's opinion. i have a couple rounds coming up this weekend and i will definitely give another assessment after that.

First, what are you trying to accomplish? The 983K isn't long enough or forgiving enough? Anyway I actually think you should try something newer and completely different than the K. IMO if you try a 905T or 905R then you wont see a huge improvement over your K.

EDIT: sorry, that probably sounded a bit harsh. you were just trying to help.

LOL no I didn't sorry. I also played a 983K for awhile and just never really settled into another Titleist driver except the 905R and it wasn't far and away better. Anyway you got a driver you like so all is good.

I just hit the 983k again today after having sold mine last year. Man, this driver is awesome! I was using the R510 TP with the stock Speeder in it for a while and wanted to try something different and even though I really like the R510, I think I actually like the 983k better. I get a more boring trajectory and the feel is more solid. The R510 has a softer feel and sometimes I get a bit of balooning.
