What do you collect?

What's cluttering up your "spare" room?
This topic was inspired by a topic in another forum, about collecting logo golf balls. I thought it would be interesting to see what other golfers collect.

Here's my list:

-Baseball caps. Not just MLB caps, I have minor-league baseball caps, NFL caps (Eagles ONLY, of course!) 76ers Caps, Japanese Baseball team caps. I have caps from the Bellagio and Caesar's in Vegas, I have college caps, I have a cap from the Canyon Crest Country Club in Riverside, CA that my best friend gave me. I have "style" caps from Tommy Bahama, Ralph Lauren, and Nautica. I even have caps from the AFL (Arena Football League), ESPN's "Great Outdoor Games", and the defunct XFL. At last count I have something like 215 caps!

-Comic books. I'm not really as active as I used to be. I only read about 5 books a month, they're just too damned expensive these days. I will say that storylines are better than ever. I have about 15,000 comics boxed up in my storage area.

-Baseball Schedules. I try to get a schedule from every major-league team each year, and as many minor-leauge teams as I possibly can. Most teams are really cool with collectors; the Mets, Yankees, and Trenton Thunder all send me schedules each year without me even requesting.

-1980 Phillies World Series memorabilia. Baseball is pretty much my religion, and I live and die with the Fightin' Phils. I just started collecting memorabilia from the 1980 World Series win. So far I have about 15 pieces, ranging from a 80's-era hat to a collectible plate signed by Mike Schmidt & Larry Bowa.

-Baseball art. Sensing a theme here? I have some really nice lithographs from Bill Goff (expensive, but worth it) hanging in my bar.

That's about all I collect these days. I used to collect lots of other things, but golf and baseball and doing both with my son pretty much take up all my free time...not that that's a bad thing!

What's in your collection??

Hockey Jerseys- 10 autographed jerseys and about 20-25 other ones.

1992 and 1993 Blue Jays World Series stuff lol, I have every program for that year plus the playoff and WS programs, i have my tickets for every game incuding game 6 in 1993!!! "Touch em all Joe!!", newspaper clippings, etc. (I'm not even a Blue Jays fan either I was 7 at the time)

Hockey sticks- not a real "collection" I only have 5, Ziggy Palffy game used and signed, Gretz obv. game used and signed, Dominik Hasek signed, Pavel Bure signed and my favourite one Todd Bertuzzi game used and signed.

I also have a ridiculous amount of Montreal Canadiens stuff but its hardly a collection as well as baseball, football and hockey cards just piled in my basement but again its not a collection its just from when I was a kid.

I have a hat collection, all kinds of sports but baseball teams dominate, minor league, negro league(I have a shirt collection of the negro leagues also) and major leagues. Probably have 150 of them altogether.

CPA: I have a friend who collects guns on a large scale and no kidding that costs mega $$$. My buddy is a wheeling dealing fool when it comes to weapons.

I used to collect guns, but decided to sell most of them and just use what we get for free at work.

I was once heavily into the baseball/football/basketball/hockey card collecting. This branched out to the Starting Lineup Figurines. This got ridiculous though when card companies started coming out with tons of different series. I pretty much gave it up after '94 and would just buy certain rookie cards here and there. I also have a pretty large collection of comic books. Wolverine and Punisher being my faves.

I too collect some Jays stuff from those days. I have an Alomar signed ball, Carter signed ball, and Devon White autographed glove...something really neat to hold on too...maybe they can make the playoffs this year...or at least finish above .500!

What do I collect...hmmmm :)

Golf programs and hats signed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Kite.....Otherwise Im an autograph collector along with sport memorabilia.. also..Starting lineup rookies, Salvino figurines, autographed bats, etc...so much that I cant totally remember LOL...

All my autographs were gotten in person..was a great time spent with my son putting this collection together!

Sports card collections (fleer, topps, upper deck, score, opee chee,Star etc): Full gum sets of basketball from 1972 to about 1989, Hockey sets frorm 1982 to 1989, Football sets 1982 to 1989, and Baseball sets from 1982 to 1989....(I bought these sets for my only son starting the year he was born until 1989, most are factory sets and the older sets are all hand collated sets with years of looking for perfect cards at card shows etc)

Large comic collection of Marvel and DC....would estimate to be 20 monster boxes all sealed with acid backboards and in plastic and mylar sheeting. Some original art from Liefield, Lim etc....also a few Cells...

Large antique toy collection all in original boxes and packaging ranging from Star Wars, Super Powers, to Xmas ornaments...Also collected Budwieser steins which I sold off to build a swimming pool at our new house....all toys I bought multiples and most are in storage!

I no longer collect as what I already have, takes up too much room in storage,

Also got quite a bit of autographed memorabilia. Alot of Rugby League stuff that I'll assume most of you guys wouldn't know about, but also have a few nice auto'd photos of Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Gene Sarazen and the champ, Muhammed Ali.

I have over 1500 golf balls displayed in wooden wall racks. Mainly logos, but quite a few antiques. Banks, corporation, sports teams that don't even exist anymore. A number of the old Ping 2-color balls. University logos. Logos from Kaiser Aluminum, Kansas City Kings basketball team, old Pepsi logo from back in 50's, "Tiger" brand ball from early 50's before TW was even thought about... Signature balls from Cary Middlecoff, Lee Trevino, Billy Casper, etc.

1) golf hats from all over - I have a rack of 24 full now and every friend of mine that comes in my room always says, "Wow, you have a lot of hats"

2)players autographs plus a picture with them if I get the chance - I have 3 with pictures now and a couple other autographed items

3)golf books - I seem to love those bundles of old golf books I can find on Ebay. The only problem is I've told myself I won't buy anymore until I read the ones I have

4)music CDs - I have no clue how many I have now because they are all back home in Indiana. But I do have almost 3000 songs on my ipod. Can't you tell I'm a music junkie?

5)the 50 state quarters - haven't been keepin up the collection lately though

6)random and weird golf balls

7)used to collect other coins and stamps when I was little but that's a past time now

8)photographs - my aunt got me hooked on scrapbooking in high school. I'm working on my 4th book this year

1) golf equipment (nasty habit, trying to kick it)

2) sports cards (few good ones are jerry rice rookie, steve young rookie, dan marino rookie, as well a too many other base ball cards)

3) stamps (not really my collection though, it was given to me by my grandfather who got them from a buddy who stole them from a bavarian mansion during WWII and kept them in an empty ammo can for like a year. Never had them appraised, but look really cool.)

I'm kind of a minimalist, I don't do much for collecting--I've got about 20 putters, but only 1 of them is a "collector piece." I've got about 80-90 hats (baseball, golf, etc), but they're all for wearing--started buying when I started shaving my head. (cool)

My wife collects teddy bears, mostly those old vintage ones: Steiff, MerryThought, blah, blah, whatever honey, blah. :golfer: :D Pretty impressive collection actually, if you're into that sort of thing.

I've started to collect bag tags, I have like 7 from some of the places I've played. I've also got golf clubs... mainly just from when I upgraded my bag but I do keep my eyes open for Scotty Cameron stuff. The best collection I have is of things from nature. I've got a deer antler that I found, and a whole turtle shell that I also found. This summer I'm going to start making plaster cast footprints of the prints I find in the woods. Pretty cool right???
