John's newest clubs.

Some " Old School" Taylormade.

Well, like most people with a vice, when you get bored or down you tend to give into your demons and fill whatever void needs filling.

For me , me only vice is golf clubs, so last week i was a little bored and in need of a fix. So i decided to go shopping, here is what i picked up.

First: Thanks to JC ( ChampX2) i recieved a set of 300 Lehman's that went directly to the West Coast for a good old " Kwoking". Along with those little beauty's i also recieved a 300 Tour . Driver, Driver looks like it has never been touched by a golf ball. ( Thanks JC)!

But that was not enough:

Second: Thanks to Richard ( Easyyy) i went ebay'ing, i picked up a Brand New Tour 320 8.5* Driver w/ a TM S-90 shaft, a Retro Tour Spoon 13* ( this one is in great shape as well and will be on its way to the greatest club fitter that i know, guess who?) i think i am going with a V2 95g in it. I also bought this Retro Raylor Brand New, it has the HM 40 Aldila Pro 95 shaft and a brand new headcover.

So thats it for today, hope you guys like the new toys.

Ok, Ok, I caved and had to buy a set of 300's. I am sure i won't like them as much as my Titleist irons, ( thats just in case Titleist is looking) And decided i might be a throwback player, I prefer the 681's, Del mar 3.5 and 970 over most of the current clubs, and they are all "Old School" Titleist, so i figured what the heck.

 

Besides, if you had not made me hit your 300's, this would have never happened. It's all your fault!!!!!!! :lol:

That is a sweet Taylor Made bag you have there. Give us your review of how they perform. I'm interested to read how the "feel" is between the TM & Titleist. Nice pick ups!

Thanks D, The 300 irons are incredible, i have not hit these yet, but hit other peoples and they are extremely soft and feel as good as any iron I have ever hit, i have not ever played a round with them but i look forward to it.

That is very generous of you Claas, they have not been scheduled for departure just yet.

I picked up an old 300 today at the local shop and had a look at it. I used to be able to bomb that thing, and I thought those old 360s were gigantic heads. Wow.

If you can't afford the F3 05 the next best thing are those TM woods. Look the same at setup-I think they may be closed for retail.

Just kidding, the F3-05 is a very difficult club to aquire right now, not many of them available. I was fortunate to find mine.

Jer-Jer, i think you might mean the 970's, they are very close in appearance and design. The F3-05 is miles apart from these vintage Taylormade fairway clubs.

I love my retro spoon, though it is unforgiving at times. Great club. How do you like the Raylor? Always thought about picking one up for myself.

I have not had a chance to hit any of these clubs as of yet.

 

I really like the feel of the Raylor in my hands, figured i would give one a try. As far as the Spoon, i also guessed i would give one a try, i have used a 970 for years, so i cant imagine it being any less forgiving than that.

After another look Jer-Jer, there is some similarity in the appearance to the F3-05 as well, in person and from address it reminds me more of the 970.

I had sold my original 320 to my brother in law and while in Arizona, I hit it on a few holes and hit it long and dead straight, so i talked myself into buying another one.

WOW~! I can't believe you strayed from Titleist John! Then again on second thought.....you're a club connoisseur and trying different stuff is part of enriching your love for the game! :drinks: For once though I can say I've got something you have. In my pile of old cast offs, I've actually got the original Raylor and Spoons along with a bunch of other old TM heads!

 

Great stuff John and thanks for sharing it with us. Now we just have to get you a set of Tourstage irons to complete your golfing room! :crazy:
