Bettinardi vs. Cameron?

I'm not sure about Scotty but I do know that Mr. Bettinardi owns X-Cel Technologies which makes parts for Dept. of Defense, Medical, Aerospace, Fluid Power, Automotive industries. IMO it is a good idea to have income comming in from numerous industries than to just be one dimensional. To run parts for these industries you must have machines that can hold a tight tolerance + - .0005 and you must have excellent quality control as well. I have toured his shop and can assure everyone that he spares no expense on his measuring and inspection equipment.Mr.B is one hell of a person as well.If you ever go to the Studio and get fitted for a putter if he is there don't be surprised if he comes over and says hello, also I know that he does alot for a local Chicago charity. I'll bet Scotty wouldn't waste his time to come say hi and thanks for the purchase. Quality over quantity is how he operates. When I was at his shop there were putter heads in his scrap bin that to the average Joe there would have been nothing wrong but even the slightest flaw and its in the trash.

...He has stated time and time again that he wants to ensure that his name is only on the finest milled putters out there. It's why he mills all putters in his own facility and doesn't farm them out like other putter manufacturers.

Are the Mizuno versions also milled in his own facility or are they made somewhere else?

They are milled in his factory in Chicago, but they are assembled by Mizuno.

PING does the same thing. They do ALOT of work for the DoD and the arespace industry which requires extremely high tolerances and precision. Probably why PING equipment is held in such high regard but its customers for its quality. Their company is not solely dependent on the golf business. PING gets substantial revenue from their casting and machining businesses.

No putters are made at the Studio.

You're wrong on that one.

The thread was about retail and or "tour" type putters and non of them are made at the Cameron Studio. In fact I do not believe that any raw heads are made at the Studio at all. The Garage putters and other one off type putters are raw heads that were machined elsewhere and then tweaked and finished at the Studio. As has been proclaimed by none other than "THE VOG" himself, Scotty does not make hand made putters anymore, so exactly what putters are you claiming are made at the Studio?

I have personally seen putters that have been made at the studio. Not huge runs but unique one of a kind putters.

I got confirmation of this from the customer service department.

Question....how many units does Bettinardi make for Mizuno? Also....why all of a sudden there is a discount of that C-series?

Personally I would say this race was over a long time ago. If you want a quality putter in a timely fashion you will get a Bettinardi. If you want a poorly assembled putter you will get a Scotty. I first ordered a Scotty and it took over 3 months to receive, was over 10 grams off and had a sweet spot that was off the heel. My Bettinardi was spot on to the weight I was told, sweet spot was perfect and the attention to detail was incredible.

But why is budgetgolf selling it below $100 and others above $200?

BECAUSE THEY ARE TWO GENERATIONS OLD! Some people still have them and wont discount them because they dont HAVE TO do anything. Others see it as an old stock putter just like a old ping, cameron, odyssey or whatever. At some point you cut your losses on old stock.

And I'm glad that they did "cut their losses" as my first 'real' putter (Bettinardi C02) should arrive early this week for under $100...
