Opinions on I-Mix options for FT-9

have hit a lot, but our fitting cart is missing a few I'd like to
Have been doing a lot of demo-ing in the last 10 days of the FT-9 Imix and wanted a few opinions from those who may also have hit a lot of the different I-mix shafts.

My profile: S/S is roughly mid 90's, last night at the course I was averaging around 235-240 of carry. More of a swinger than a hitter, my slight build (5'8", maybe 150 lbs. soaking wet) makes me rely on good mechanics and timing for good tee shots. Unfortunately don't have any recent LM numbers for you, but with the current driver in my sig (905R) and the FT-9 10.5* neutral I've been trying, I've had zero problems with launching the ball plenty high. For reference I typically play ProV1's, and have a much easier time drawing the ball than fading it.

With the FT-9, I've hit lots of shafts off our clubs' opti-fit cart, and impressions so far:

Fubuki 63 tour - have hit both R and S on the range, but only R on the course last night. Nice smooth feel, pretty good trajectory but maybe a tad high, and certainly straight. Of the five tee shots I hit last night on the course, 4 found the fairway. Someone at our club has the stiff right now, so that's next on the list to go on the course. Should I expect the S to bring the flight down a bit? I've only hit the Stiff on a 9.5* head on the range, and it was hitting bullets, but that's with range balls.

ZCom 65 S - Hit this for 9 holes last weekend and extensive range time and am definitely impressed. Seemed to be able to keep this flight down when needed and could easily turn it right to left, but maybe a little too easy. Other shafts seem to have had tighter dispersion.

VS Proto 60 S - Hit this also for 9 holes last weekend and some range time. Good trajectory and okay distance but didn't like the feel very much or how it seemed to load.

Axis Blue 60 S - Another one that felt just so-so, although it hasn't been to the course yet.

Voodoo SVS6 - Now here's where I have a dilemma - On the range, this one has been the definite winner in terms of distance and feel. Took it out side by side last night with the Fubuki 63R, and was similar in dispersion but the feel was better. Only problem, on the course it was launching really high, probably to my detriment in terms of distance, as it was pretty much even with the Fubuki.

Unfortunately, there's no Diamana demo's at our course, nor any other Fujikura's, Pershings, or ProLaunch Red/Platinum on our fitting cart, all ones that I would like to try. Has anyone tried any of these shafts in Imix form?

Also, on the Voodoo, I'm going to try next to demo our 9.5* neutral head to see if that brings the flight down. Would the 70+ gram shaft offer some lower launch if I stuck with the 10.5*? I am a little budget conscious though, and would imagine I probably couldn't get away with a Voodoo Imix for less than, what, about $275?

Any thoughts on any 9.5 or 10.5 head and shafts combos you've hit would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Voodoo is an awesome shaft, mid launch mid-low spin and feels really nice. It definitely launches higher than the fubuki and spins a fair bit more so it wasnt for me but its a great shaft. If you hit the fubuki a bit high in the 10.5 why not try a 9.5 and a stiff shaft, it is really smooth so the stiff shouldnt be a problem. The voodoo retails at 299 where as the fubuki is 129, that is a big deal to me and im sure to you as well. The fubuki performs amazingly and is a great price which is why its so popular.

I just picked up the Fuji ZCOM SIX 53 Stiff I-mix with the FT-5 head. This after going to a custom fitter and him suggesting the 53-S Bassara Hawk was my best fit though he only had the 43-R for me to hit (non imix). So if you can find those 2 to hit I'd definitely say try them before buying anything else. Since I found a steal on the Fuji ($99!) and it fit the profile of what I needed, I decided to try it first.

My SS is also mid-90's which as you know typically puts you right between Reg and Stiff on most charts. There was a big launch monitor and feel difference when I had the 50 and 40 shafts versus the 60's and up. Finding lighter but still stiff shafts was a revelation to me.

Since you say you on on a budget...why not the Ft-5 for <$80 (I got mine at Golf Galaxy for $75) and spend the money on the shaft you really want. I had trouble finding a review that stated the FT-9 would make any FT-5 owners upgrade.

Yeah, I've been thinking that a blue board or V2 could also be a good fit for myself as well. On that subject, Rock Bottom golf is selling BB's for pretty cheap on the bay. Is the I-mix Blue board a real one or a "made for?" Or is it possibly that they are selling blue board's from the last I-mix release, which are different from the current I-mix BB?

That's a heck of a deal you got on the Fit-On Zcom Six sdiver, they are on the Callaway site for $249!

I'm anticipating overall that it may come down to: Fubuki 63S, Blue Board 63S, Voodoo, or Zcom 65 S, in either the 9.5 neutral or 10.5 neutral depending on flight and spin. Now I just wish our pro had a LM at our course!!!

I purchased an IMIX BB (63s) from Rockbottom through Amazon for $99 and it appears to be the real deal (g4't model as opposed to the aftermarket x5ct model). I haven't swung it yet because my Ft-9 Head is at my country club in another town ... that will change tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip. Now I have a Fuji SIX and Mitsu Blueboard in my "collection"

Of course yesterday I was 11/14 fairways with shaping and +10-15 yds distance with the SIX versus my old driver...almost exactly what my LM numbers suggested so I'm not sure the BB will do much for me. But now I can find out for sure and at these prices resell what I don't need.
