I'm on vacation in Europe and was able to go see the final round of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on Sunday.

It was a quite the exciting finish with Paul Casey making birdie on 18 to win (Casey is world number 3 now!). It was kind of a shame because Ross Fisher plays out of Wentworth and shot a course record 64 on Sunday to lose by one stroke.

I thought I'd upload a few pics I took (they aren't as tight about cameras during the rounds here)

NOTE: This thread will get a blast of new pics next week because my friend is a member at Wentworth and we're going to play on Saturday.

Hey guys,

 

Got back from London on Sunday. We had a perfect day for golf on Saturday, it was 25 degrees celsius and sunny. The only thing that was in the way of scoring well was the course (a monster) and my hangover (another monster).

 

Unfortunately, I played like crap but still had a great time.

 

There are three 18s at Wentworth (East, West, Edinburgh). The West was designed by Harry Colt in 1926 and touched up by Ernie Els a few years ago. It's 7308 from the tips and was home to the first World Matchplay Championship, it has hosted the Ryder Cup and is the home to the BMW PGA Championship since 1984.

 

It's been played by -- among others -- Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els and Tiger Woods. You can feel the history when walking around the course and clubhouse.

 

One interesting sidebit is that they are tearing up all 18 greens at Wentworth West to redo them beginning yesterday. So the West will be closed for 9 months ... I got out there just in time.

 

Here are some pics from the day:

 

First hole, a shortish Par 5 (it was a Par 4 for the pros).

 

 

Me on the first fairway, the picture looks back toward the tee and the clubhouse.

 

 

Third hole. 442 yard Par 4. Very nice looking approach to the green.

 

Can't remember the hole, but there were a number of these little creeks and ditches throughout the course that could ruin otherwise nice shots.

 

Me on the tee. If I have my holes right this is the 11th and I watched Rory Mcillroy hit a 350 yard bomb that drew around the corner here. He had 65 yards in to the green.

 

This was a neat driving hole. From the back two tees getting over the trees isn't a problem, but it with old persimmons it might not have been so easy.

 

I went back to the first tee on our way out and took this last picture.

Looks like you had a good trip there.

 

The green you couldn't recall was the 12th on the West, the same one you took a shot of from the tee with the two tree's that are about 150 yards (out of play) in front of it.

 

Wentworth is pretty at the bottom of my garden so I'll post some pics up as they tear the greens up. Glad you had good weather too - is 28+ degree's here today :man_in_love:
