09 TP forged irons vs US Tour Preffered irons

How do they compare?? (feel, forgiveness, playablity, looks)

I am trying to decide which set I should go with and was wondering if anyone has tried both sets??

I have the AP2's now with Rifle Flighted shafts..

mine are on order right now, i expect them in a week or so. i got them with project x shafts. i am playing the US tour preferred right now with the same shafts. also have mp-62 with the same shafts. so at the moment, i can only compare the mizzy's vs. US tour preferred's.

i like both!! the mizzy's are more compact, thinner sole, forged feelings!! the tp's are just the opposite!! however, they feel pretty darn good for cast clubs and are more forgiving. they might even be a tad bit longer, but not by much. for me, i am having a little difficulty adjusting to the overall larger size of the tp's. but as i hit more and more "pure" shots with them, i can only tell myself that i might not be making such good contact with the mizzy's.

i guess i'd tell you , you can't go wrong with either set, cuz i'm sure the 2009 tp's from japan will feel more along the lines of the mizzy's.

Has anyone played the 09 TM TP Forged irons?

I was curious about this, too. I was on the TM Japan website and noticed they offer the burner in a forging that looks incredibly nice: cleaner lines and less gimmicky on the backside of the club. Their tour preferred version, forged too, looks almost exactly like the 2005 RAC TP CBs. Just frustrated that they are not available in the states to demo.

These 2 are not even the same club.

 

09 TP Forged is, simply put, FORGED IRON with no attachments, a cavity with muscle bar at the bottom.

 

Tour Preferred is CAST, with an undercut channel and inverted cone thingamijig.

i have both sets.. both with new decades, 1/4" long and project X 5.5 in them. i am gaming the tour preferreds at the moment, but have hit my 2009's a few times.

to compare or contrast the both is simple.

distance is about the same, but the 2009 JDM tp's feel just a bit better,, surprisingly, the US tour preferreds feel pretty damn nice considering they a cast.

but i can tell the diference,, the jdm tp's feel pretty nice in the forged class. and i have hit many forged irons; mizuno ,mp-62, 2005 tp cb's, tp mb's, hogans.. these 2009 jdm's feel just as nice as any top of the line forged model.

as a matter of fact, the us tour preferreds are the first non forged iron set i have hit years!!

i prefer the 2009 jdm tp's for feel , and esthetics,, hands down!! these babies are freakin' gorgeous~~

but for $1500... is it worth it??!!!
