I practice at First Tee all the time. I live in the Highlands. We should play a round some time.

 

Have you thought of joining Petersburg County Club? I played over there about a year ago, pretty impressive course. Very long and challenging. Haven't been so impressed with the Highlands lately. They really need to make some improvements in my opinion. I may join eventually but not now.

Live in McLean, go over the bridge and play either congressional or burning tree or avenel. Ok, that was a lie. Go over the bridge and love Falls Road, liking needwood, wanna try Hampshire greens. enjoy pleasant valley near dulles, loved evergreen cc a lot 1x, also play jefferson and pinecrest for the quick 9's. Herndon centennial not bad either ... i guess that is all, hate with much hate Reston National, home of the expensive 5.5 hour round....

Wonderful Fauquier County..play all over..anywhere I can actually. Just played Blue Ridge Shadows in Front Royal Friday. Great course...in wonderful condition...greens are very very fast..probably best condition public course I have played in the last month...also played in last month..In good to great shape Cannon Ridge, Stonewall, Bull Run, Mattaponi Springs (my number one choice just a little far from me) Rocky Gap in MD........ In not so good shape to awful shape South Wales, Kastle Greens, Somerset.

Live in Centreville and play any public local course I can. In the area, played:

 

Fairfax National (liked it and liked the $30 round after noon better)

Westfields (favorite in the area but expen$ive. got to play it half price. woohoo!)

Pleasant Valley, (didn't care for it very much)

Virginia Oaks (nice)

Brambleton (decent)

Algonkian (decent)

Bristow Manor (been a couple of years. love the layout but wasn't in great shape)

Virginia (don't remember anything about the course besides mosquitoes)

 

That's all I can think of now.

 

If VA golfers want to get together for around before snow comes, count me in.

Yeah I joined MCC at the end of March this year. The course is looking pretty nice now. Greens are rolling pretty fast and the fairways and tee boxes are overseeded with rye grass because the bermuda goes dormant in the winter. It almost feels like bent grass to me.

 

I played The Federal Club this summer with a friend whose a member there. Really nice course. Lots of bunkers...classic Arnold Palmer I suppose. Tough track.

I'd be up for any get together and I'm actually looking to get into a regular game or foursome so hit me up.

BTW I really miss living down in the Norfolk/Va Beach area (served in the Navy down there from '94-'01) - bunch of great courses, especially if you stretch it up to Williamsburg.

Yanger, if you don't mind coming up to MD we are trying to get a group together on the 19th to play. Many of us play 2 or 3 at time during the week, but a few times a year 10 to 12 of us get together for a group outing. There is a slight chance we may try and do Laurel Hills that day, down your way as many guys want to try something different from the MD courses.

puppetmaster, sorry you missed out on the "outing" last month. Definitely keep checking here for future info. As of now we don't have anything on the books, but there's always the chance something can pop up on short notice.

You're right the days are getting shorter and temps cooler, but at least we're not in Denver, so we should have at least another month of playable weather
