Nickent 4DX Evolver with CYG (Merged)

I went to a demo day today with Nickent there and hit a 10.5* Evolver with the CYG hosel. The rep did not tell me what he was setting it on and watched my flight, made adjustments, game it back.....and WOW. I was on a setting about .75* open and slightly lower then 10* loft and was killing it all day there. The Cobra/Titleist rep was even enjoying watching me kill drives down the middle with this club.

 

I will be calling Nickent Monday morning and telling them to forget about the RC driver I was waiting on and send me a CYG Evlover instead. They have an old cracked Tour Square of mine, so I should get a nice little credit towards the Evolver. For $299 this driver is just unreal!

I ordered 3 CYG adapters and they sent me 4. Cool! I am happy with my current set-up though. My Evolver with V2 HL gives me more distance then my Launcher Ti460. That was an unexpected bonus. For those who understand how the CYG works, can I increase loft without closing the face angle? I may actually just end up waiting for the offseason to bring in the driver to be worked on. I still want to try different shafts like the Epic I have in another driver. The best shop around is somewhat of a drive.

I am really interested in this club. I am looking for a new driver and have heard great things about the 4DX. I like the thought of the adjustability. I was looking at this driver last year, but it was only offered in the draw in left handed.

 

Does the 4DX play true to loft? How is the spin compared to other drivers?

It is long, it is easy to hit. My 4dx 10.5 evolver is slightly closed by default. The ball goes high and long, then rolls. I'd say it is a high launch low spin driver head. It is forgiving. No real complaints. The shaft is a little too flexible in the one I have but it goes pretty far with a pretty easy swing. It is an a-frame boomer. I hit it off the deck last round as well, hit a low running shot.

The Evolver head is the same head as the new Evolver with CYG. I have the 4DX Draw version and I do not think the face is closed. Mine sits pretty square. The draw may come from internal bias as opposed to face angle. The face is solid and long though and sits beautifully. As soon as I have time, I'm trading my STR8 Fit in for the Evolver CYG. Played both the other night and the 4DX was longer and felt better.

I have always read great post on here about the 4DX. I am looking for a high launch/low spin head. I just now have to figure out which shaft to match with the head.

my evolver is somewhat closed but it does not say draw. It does screw me up sometimes I can't figure out how to set it up. I only have one shaft is a pretty spinny one my next one will be a better one and I'll buy the CYG hosel. I need to learn to put together one myself or find someway to get it done.

They are not available directly through Nickent, you have to order through Edwin Watts. The number I used successfully is 1-800-874-0146. Right now they only have the .350 available with .335 coming sometime fairly soon, maybe. $13.50 a piece with shipping about $6.

Thats right. There is no new evolver head, only new adaptor sleeve. If you already own an evolver all you have to do is replace the old tip in the shaft with the new CYG tip.

I was too cheap and went with the tour spec 4dx instead of the Evolver. Now I wish I went with the Evolver. :russian_roulette:

Yep, this is adjustability taken to it's logical (and pretty much final) conclusion.

 

3* off axis connector, enough demarcations that nobody could ever need them all, and an affordable price point.

It is a nice feature though. Being a lefty they do not make square or open faced drivers. It's nice to be able to change it to how I would like it, not what normally offered for lefties.. which is not much at all.

And, for $29.95, you can send your existing shaft back to Nickent and they'll put the new CYG hosel on it for you.

I do think Nickent is smoking crack on the up charges for shafts.Driver is $279,but if I want a F7M2 I have to pay an additional $800.That's twice the amount of MSRP from Matrix.

 

I did find you can buy just the head for $229 and then get the tip for $14.Total cost would be $243 then I can install my own F7M2.

 

 

Any reviews on this club.What are the Launch conditions and Spin Characteristics?

Its fairly low spin and mid launch , as far as Adams xtd .. but easier to hit, contact lower face still launches well. less forgiving than say G10 or rapture .

 

Nuetral Bias .. Feel.wise is in the middle of the pack. Nothing fancy..

 

i had a diamana white 63x 264 cpm ... and Axivcore 75s red 268 cpm .

 

axivcore is slightly Flatter trajectory and further distance. same launch.

 

the Hosel is what makes this pretty good Driver, fantastic , dial in any trajectory you need. I rate it better than r9 . with better distance and 26 combo . I personally cant find any fault with it .

It's hands down the best driver I've hit. The head is as hot as anything out there and being able to move it around in so many different positions is a huge plus. It's like having a tour van at the tips of your fingers.

How much different is this head from the glued 4DX? The website says the Evolver is 454cc while the 4DX is 460cc. Is the Evolver head weighted like the draw 4DX (heel weighted) or is it more neutral weighted (equal weight in toe and heel)? Thinking about picking one up since they can be had pretty cheap right now.

The Face is 1* closed while in the N position, so opening the face by 3* means it is actually open 2*... I really like the club and all the shaft & face options. I feel like a huge dork, but I always carry at least 2 shafts with me depending upon the conditions!

 

Hayam has a good synopsis of what you are getting with the club and I agree.

Let me think this through. If you get a 10.5 and the head is 1* closed,you would have an effective loft of 11.1.Then open it 2* to get 1* open,I would now have an effective loft of 9.9*? Is this correct?

i believe it is 10.5 at 1 closed not 10.5 then 1 closed changing it to 11.1
