Mizuno MP 58s in the shop today!

These things are sweet.

Went into the PGA Tour Superstore today because I can't seem to pull the trigger on a new set of irons so I have been just demoing set after set. So, as I am walking to the hitting bay, I see the Mizuno MP58s and the new Mizuno MP68s. The MP58s are absolutely beautiful and the few shots I hit (albeit with a taped up club) were phenomenal. First off, these things are expensive. The price point was $999 for the 58s and get this...$899 for the 68s. Not sure why the 68s were cheaper then the 58s. Also, they have removed the MP52s from the shelf altogether and that is strange since Mizuno is here in Atlanta so supply shouldn't be a problem and the PGA Tour Super Store usually has everything.

At any rate, I can't wait to put these things through their paces because they are low offset, have a thin topline, and just set up beautifully. Although I didn't get to hit the four iron, I set it up in address position and couldn't see the back flange/sole at all. They are almost perfect at setup. For the most part, if you place a 58 next to a 68, the difference is nonexistent. For those that want to mix a set, there should be no problem whatsoever.

MAN THESE THINGS ARE SWEET!

Still can't believe the price though.

I hope that means we will see them hit other parts of the country as well. We have a demo day in two weeks and I was hoping to test the 58s and 68s. By the way, are you still working with the TGM guys at the swamp? They have helped transform my game.

Nope. Not working with anyone these days...and not playing as much as I would like to since we are launch phase for another company. I actually have two lessons with Ted that I paid for from last year, but haven't used. My swing was completely jacked up when I went to see Ted last year because I started noodling around with the One Plane Swing stuff and he fixed me in two lessons. The stuff Yoda/Lynn taught me is so easy to forget once you start reading all of the stuff in swing fix forums!! Those guys really know their stuff and they have the credentials to back it up.

By the way, the 58s are basically blades if you ask me albeit more forgiving than a traditional blade. I pulled up the stats from Mizuno Europe and there is only a .04 mm difference in toplines between the two which confirms what I suspected...basically no difference. They actually say the 58 has less offset than the 68 and the sole width are essentially the same as well.
