Who bags a 4 wood

Not exactly a 4wd but my 17* 909h replaced my 3wd and 2 iron so i guess it does the same job. can get it down there 250 off a tee or throw it up in the air and land it soft into a green from 220...perffect!

Pretty much the same setup in my bag. I have never been able to find a lower lofted fairway wood that I could hit off the deck. The Adams 5050 16* was the lowest lofted fairway wood that I have been able to hit equally well off the tee and the fairway.

The face is also deep enough that I can use it out of the rough without fearing the dreaded idiot mark too.

With the Code-8 shaft, I can hit this club 240-250 off the tee and 230-240 off the deck. Its a great club and won't be going anywhere, anytime soon.

For me the fairway woods have been favorites since my early teens (some 35 years ago) and have always been extremely easy to hit. The idea that they are hard to hit off the deck just baffles me - I'd much rather have an FW in my hands than a 3 or 2 iron. As to distance, the strong 3W is 15 to 20 yards longer than my 4W (225-240 off the deck vs. 205 to 215).

I would have stayed with the traditional 5W/3W but the 3H is carrying up to 205 and the current TM 5Ws have been coming up short for me (200-210 for the 08 tour burner vs. 210 to 220 for my old TM System 2).

I guess I could be an exception as the slow sweeping swing I use on the FWs was one of the first ones I was really any good at.
