It could be S2,S3 or S4....I've seen very very few S4 though.

This is correct according to the Titleist/Vokey website, but to be honest, because the wedge shafts are so short - does it really matter? It could well be either a S200,300 or 400 - I defy anyone to notice the difference in a club that short.

Like William Wallace did to King Edward mate, I'm defying you. The 200 Series Vokeys I picked up a year or two back lasted about a fortnight before the S200s in them were hoiked out for my usual S400s. I don't claim to be superhuman but, if you've been playing something since God was a lad, you can certainly pick up on even minor changes. I can anyway; at least as far as those wedge shafts were concerned.

It might be all in my mind but, like the three grams of lead tape in the heel of my driver that make it easier to turn over, there's definitely a difference.

Not me. I guess you must have been bitten by a radio-active club maker at some point in your formative years. Is there a guy called Parker at your club? Sticky handshake, walks up walls, likes to wear red and blue?
Actually i'm not. Titleist use S200's as wedge flex as does Mizuno . The vast majority of 'Dynamic Gold Wedge flex' shafts are S200's. I may be wrong in some instances but i'm trying to give an answer for the majority of OEM's. There's a perfectly good reason why S200's are used as wedge flex shafts - it's because they play slightly softer than S400 or S300 which are predominantly used in irons, this allows a little more forgiveness in the shaft for half and 3/4 shots. The extended hosel section of the wedge also stiffens the shaft tip section, hence S200's in some wedges with a long hosel would play similarly to S300's or S400's in the irons.

There may well be OEM's using S300's or S400's as the stock shaft in their wedges but they would be labelled as such. Wedge Flex is S200 which is why with Mizuno wedges for example, S300 and S400 are custom orders.
Maybe it's just a convenient way for TT to get rid of a load of shafts that don't make the weight grade for S300? Come to think of it, how many iron sets have you come across built to S200?
Your exactly right. Just like S400's which go outside the tolerance on the heavy side, S200's go outside the production tolerance on the light side. But S200's also have a very functional purpose as a 'wedge flex shaft' - just as S400''s play fractionally stiffer than S300's so S200's play fractionally softer. A high percentage good players, especially pro's prefer softer shafts in the wedge i.e. Tiger uses X100's in his irons and S400's in his wedges.

Yes but they are all unsorted. I know the differences between the three, but I've seen all 3 of them come as "wedge" flex when doing a ton of re-grips.

I'm only going on the info provided the OEM's whi say that Wedge Flex is S200. If it is the case that they are unsorted and there is infact S300 and S400 print on the butt section, but a wedge flex shaft label, then that's a bit naughty by the OEM's.

There isn't that much difference, I regripped a set of Vokey wegdes this summer 52-56-60 for a guy and the 60 was the only one with S200. 99% of the golfing population doesn't know the difference and wouldn't care unless you told them.

I have to agree here. When you've been playing a particular shaft for a long time, you'd be amazed at how sensitive you become to how they feel if you have some ball striking abililty. I have a standing bet with the regular golf buds that I can tell the difference between X-100 twice soft stepped with a 1.25" hosel depth, compared to the 1.6" hosel depth on my old blades (ceteris paribus).

The wedge flex shafts I pulled from my 54 and 60 SM Vokeys were S-200.

Agree!  DGS200 has a softer tip, and weight slightly less, 127g.

Years back we had Vokey to our club, and learned most Wedge flex shafts are S200, but it depends on what's in-stock.  They also modify R&S 300 and S400 for wedge flex.

I contacted them today and they said wedge flex is S200. If you purchase from a retailer it will have the vokey wedge flex band, online custom order or wedgeworks and it will have S200 band. Similar to what others said, vokey said players won't notice weight difference vs S300 but will benefit from a slightly softer tip section.
