I'm in too...

just ordered a set with the Super peening Reds.

Just need some patience.... how long did yours take to ship?
Wow!! I can't believe you're making the switch.

Don't know anything about the SP Reds. Will be interested in hearing about them.

I predict you're going to really like these irons.

Custom made in Japan and to your door... my guess is 2-3 weeks. Not bad.

Thanks Id
it was a hard decision but these are an experiment, likewise the shafts. If it doesn't work out then I shall get back on the path of righteousness

I like the look of them and love the sound of the feel...soft but solid etc. Ok I admit some of your postings on them helped sway me.

Mind you i'm in DC and we're due another shedload of snow so it probably doesn;t matter how long they take to arrive.

Cheers

I'm less crazy about the design of of the cavity. The 301 was perfection. Simple, elegant, even slightly understated. The 302's cavity is a busy affair with the indentations towards the heel and toe detracting from the harmony of the 301's design. And while I'm at it, there's word that the 302 is less workable than the 301. It didn't feel that way hitting the demos back to back. We'll have to wait and see.

Agreed 100% about the head design. The 301's design was perfection.

with respect.... the 302's have less offset and that's the visual that matters to me more than what the cavity looks like.

I only got a chance to play 2 rounds with them in Mesquite, the orange peen is a really stable smooth shaft. The ball flight
was med-high and I was able to keep it down if I needed, after only 2 rounds with them I was impressed. I tried the KBS in
some retail ar-1s last year and really liked them, just decided to try the orange peen(always been curious about them).

Can't help you with the shaft but after hitting a bunch of other irons over the last couple of months the AF302's are firmly in the bag.

I really think this year for the first time since.... aaaaa... eerrrr.... well I don't remember when but for the first time in a long time that a set of irons will be in my bag for at least this year. Most likely til I wear them out.

Without sounding gushy, these are the best irons I've ever had the pleasure of bagging in my life!!

They are the perfect combination of feel, forgiveness and playability. They're more forgiving than the AF301 and better looking at address. The feel on good hits is just buttery soft. The proof's in the pudding and my handicap index has dropped 1.1 points since I've put them in the bag.

I'm keeping them.

Resurrecting an old thread. Can anyone update their feelings about the Epon 302's? Still in love or have you moved on?
well.., i bought a set of 302s, and a set of af -tours, and my playing partner bought the 502s.
the feel of the 302s weve acknowleged as the best , greatest thing ever hit , by all of us. solid impact, long, and precise. the 502 felt just a bit lighter and more forgiving , and the af tours were just shot making joy .
i prefer thin sole and thin top lined clubs, and although the 302s felt like gravy, i found them a little chunky ......COMPARED......... to what i normally hit.. i gamed my 302s for a few weeks and found it hard to get over the thick sole., from the rough theres simply nothing anywhere near as good as these not even close, but from tight lies and fast low cut grass ive been struggling a lot with them. i was always fightintg them , i was taking some big chunky divots a little too often, so i switched to the af -tours and was gaming those for 3 months till i ressurected my kyoei blades one day recently on tight fairways and noticed a huge differnce again. i absolutely love the feel of the epon, but i couldnt resist how well i struck the kyoeis that day , so problem solved i rotate these two depending on courses, in fluffy soft grass i use the af tours and on hard pan course i used the kyoeis. the 302s i just cant find a game for, i tihnk imight have to get them refit bec it pains me, to have them sit idle they are just too damn good to be unused.
the af -tours i find to be the most versatile of all my clubs, they have a little bit of offest , and wokability is fantastic, the softness is incomporable for a blade. i shafted them with kbs tour s , a perfect mix.
My buddy bought the 502 after using some kind of ping shovels for the last 3 yrs and he says he feels like hes been reiintroduced to the game. it took him about 3 games and a few range sessions to get a tuned to them but he just gave the pings away. plays off 9 .the Epon-Endo line of clubs as a whole are just incredible, the best feeling clubs there are ( drivers especially !) . i just dont think you can move on from epon you move to them and its almost impossible to move away. if i was to have only one set and nothing else ever again , i could die happy with my af-tours , the 302s are going back to oz for 3 weeks of summer golf, so we can work out our troubles i just cant let them sit idle im determined to work them out.
THAT...................., is true love.!

I have a set of the 302's. I've always thought Epon makes the nicest feeling irons in all of golf. Bold statement, I know. I also have Miura Mb5003s, Mizuno Mp37's, I've hit forged TM's, Titleist, Nike, etc, etc, etc. Epon, as far as I'm concerned, are the best combination of soft and solid out there. Almost a buttery sponge feeling. The best.
