mizuno, nike, others

for those interested i went through some irons and drivers for about 2 hours on trackman today and i'll give my thoughts. my swing speeds on the trackman were mostly 110 to 115 for record

Drivers

Nike VR str8t fit: this driver felt awesome, and the PX shaft was good, not great. This combo was a little spinny for me. I hit mixtures of 8.5 and 9.5 lofts with 6.0 and 6.5 flexes. It could be my imagination but the compression channel seems to make the clubface feel softer/ better, although i just wasn't getting the ballspeeds on this driver.

MP-630: This was the one that worked best for me. The Stock Fubiki shaft killed the spin (was getting about 2500) with this clubhead much better than the Nike and PX combo for me. Pure black clubhead, ballspeeds around 170, low spin, and tight dispersion was what i was getting here. In comparison i was about 2000 rpms less spin with the mp-630 than my 9015D protopype combo.

A short note about the irons i hit. I tested the new Mizuno irons(mp-68, mp-58, mx-300) all felt like mizunos normally do. Personally i was getting about a club further carry on the 6 iron from the mp-68's due to less spin coming from the blade. Comparing the MX-300 to the mp-58's I really don't see a reason to go with the 58's from a performance standpoint. I was getting near identical numbers with these two clubs with the 300's being more forgiving.

Also on the new mizuno fairways, well they look great to me. I didn't hit any, but if the Mizuno driver works on the course i will go back and snag a 3 wood. Looked better than the new TEE cb3 from a playability standpoint comparing similar titanium faced fairway woods.

I know this is a big Mizuno loving post, but honestly i have hated mizuno equipment for years and had no intention of even trying their stuff, it just worked and felt better than my old gamers and the other various clubs i tried.

Holy Crap, 2000rpm less spin from the 630 than the 9015d? Did you change your setup?

Did you try out the VR Tour Driver (non-str8 fit)
How about the 630 vs. 630 Fast Track?? Their past woods felt great, but didn't always hit further.

i think most that spin is because i just have never got along with aldila shafts. This was the first time i had hit fubuki, i was pleasantly suprized. Fubuki was stiff flex which we tweaked some, and both were 9.5 stamped heads.

I didn't bother to hit the VR Tour because i could tell the PX graphite wasn't going to work. I also didn't hit the Fast Track because it was more expensive and I really couldn't have improved my numbers according to trackman.

your clubhead speed is identical to mine... am curious if you tried a x-stiff on the MP-630 and what the results were? What launch angle and carry results were you seeing with 9.5-deg. and stiff flex ? I am just wondering (originally for myself) if 10.5 and x-stiff would produce better results.

I did not try the x-stiff, but we did cut this driver down to 44 inches so it plays a tad stiffer, and honestly this stiff flex feels stiffer than many the x flex's i own. i normally refuse to play anything less than x, just in this case it wasn't an issue. for me most the launches were around 10 degrees. trackman was around 270 carry, rolling out to 290ish.

To make sure everything was on the up and up i kept grabbing my own clubs in the middle of the fitting.

I also did the mizuno iron shaft fit, my top 3 result were PX 6.5, x100, and KBS Tour x. That might help your decision on flex.
