I've been promising these for so long now, I'm almost embarrassed to show them. This little girl is sooooooooooooo beautiful and she hits like a tank. Used her again of Friday (before the snow storm struck) and I will guarantee you that she is long and straight. Now, please don't tell me that she isn't what she claims to be.

BTW - sorry for the picture quality. I'm still trying to figure this camera thing out.

That is a terrific looking Texan. I really like this driver. I will have to get one someday!

By the way, I need to say a special thanks to a very generous person who made this drive available to me. Rest assured it is being treated with the respect it deserves. I think of your generosity every time I use it.

Anybody notice anything a little different about Smitty's Texan besides there is no screw in the bore through hole?

Smitty's Texan does not show the degree of loft on the sole plate. It must have been a custom order. Pretty sweet.

I noticed that too.. Drewspin's white insert Texan is the same way..

Interesting - It feels like a 10* compared with current metal stuff. I have no trouble getting it airborne but it doesn't float, either.

Have to tell you a funny story - played with a flat-bellied kid yesterday. I'm sure he thought "this guy must be a dinosaur" because I was carrying the Texan. First hole we played together (I picked him up on third hole), he launched a towering, long push into the trees. I hit a beautiful little draw about 240yds. into the middle of the fairway. Things went like that for the other 5 holes. By the end, he assured me that he also had a set of persimmon woods that he hit every once and a while (sure he did!) and he really loved them (sure he did!).

I felt like "that old guy" that people talk about - the old guy who wanders up with his old clubs and his old bag. Hits the 150 yd drive 5 feet off the ground, right down the middle. He fits his 3-wood 130 yds down the middle, pitches up to 4' and drains his putt and does the same thing the next hole. While it wasn't that bad, yet (thankfully I can still hit the crap out of the ball on occasion) it must have felt that way for him.

I heartily recommend the experience.

I was lucky enough to find one of these a few weeks ago in pristine condition with headcover. I paid allot, but it is worth it. I have many old clubs but this one, even though it's not that old, will be one of my favorites.
