HELP! What is this Macgregor club?

I just picked these up. They're beautiful but I don't know what they are. Thanks to Macgregor shutting down their Web site, there's no legacy club information available anywhere.

All these clubs say on them is "Tourney." They have shaft bands that say Pro-Pel 2 Medium on them and that's about it. Does anyone know what they are and how old they are?

I found one site that mentioned the Pro-Pel shafts were manufactured from 1958-68 but I doubt these are that old. Am I wrong?

I think they're a bit more recent than the shafts would suggest.

Mid '70s.

Looks like a 1973 or 1974 Tourney. 1973 had a standard hosel but no ferrule. 1974 had a shaft over hosel design.

Older MacGregor irons (pre Clay Long) are a thing of beauty. I still wish I had my Muirfield irons.

Remember the old forged PGA Tommy Armour blades? Those www my favorite when I was a lean kid in California!

I just showed this to Don White and he said that this club was made in 1980 and it is a standard Tourney iron. Don made a few sets of these for Chi Chi and Jack. If you could produce some more pics of these he will be able to tell you if he made this club and where it came from.

Thank you to everyone for their help on this. I kind of felt these were late 70s clubs but wasn't sure. Haven't had a chance to hit them but curious to know what you guys think about them.

Also, here are some more photos. I've included the number on the hosel. There are two club in the set that actually have a 4, not a 1 at the beginning of the number. Otherwise, the hosel number is the same.

Anybody know why the hosel numbers are the same, save for the first number, which is "1" on some clubs and "4" on others?

I used to play with a set of those. I traded them for the 1980 cast VIP which was the precursor the forged Limited Edition/Muirfield 20th. They were nice sticks.

I know that there was a number for flex, another for swing weight. I can't find my Vintage Golf book on MacGregor clubs or I would give you the full rundown.

Would this Mr. White have any knowledge of mid-60's Mac irons? I have a set of what I believe to be the first Jack Nicklaus signature model. Never found any pics or description of these in any guide I've seen.

These are the MacGregor Tourney Irons from the early 1970s,(1972, 1973) after the aluminum shaft M/Ts
(I was in high school)

The MacGregor Tourney woods that matched this set had brass weights in the toe and heel
Does "Toe- Heel Balance" remind anyone of those new fangled clubs these were competing against...PING? .

MacGregor's advertising for the Tourneys could be found in most golf publications, though their stars used a different grind-(Nicklaus, Miller, Weiskopf, Tom Watson (before Ram), and a young Ben Crenshaw).

MacGregor did offer some LH Tourneys like these, but their forging smears weren't even close to the uniformity of RH ones... and that seemed common for forged club manufacturers from these days, and why most LH clubs of the period look...[i]different...
