Rochester, CC- New Hampshire

Has anyone played this course recently and how did you like the course? I usually play The Oaks in Somersworth but thinking of joining Rochester becuse of the costs and I have heard nothing but good things about it.

 

 

Planning on getting out there this weekend or next but still would like some opinions.

I haven't, but I'd be interested in your comments about the Oaks. I've almost played there a couple of times, but haven't made it there yet.

The Oaks is one of the best courses on the Seacoast in my opinion. The greens are amazing, not as fast as Ledges but close and they rooll very true. They keep the course in very good condition and the drainage is great- I recommend you play there. I am only looking at Rochester becuase it is $1,000 for the year with a cart!

Its a fun track.
I played there a lot two summers ago with my uncle (he was a member). Didn't get to play it last yeas as he tore his Achilles.
It had a tendency to be a little wet from what I recall. Otherwise in very good shape. Lots of elevation change, not too many blind tee shots.
Not a ton of water in play.
Definitely a fun place to play regularly.

played the front nine for a high school match and from what i heard and saw it didn't drain well in a few areas

I was a jounior member here until i left for college. I always enjoyed it, drainange can be a problem at times, but in general the course is in great condtition. Pace of play is a big plus. Although I know it is only semi private now (used to be full). Might want to check on how that has effected the pace of play. The changes they recently made to 6 and 7 were very good ones. Its a fun track, can be pretty challenging playing from the tips. Id reccomended it if your looking for an afforadable place to become a member.

Rochester is a nice course. I played it several times last year. Between the two I personally like the Oaks better but the semi private nature of Rochester should allow for faster rounds. My buddy was a member at Rochester, then the Oaks, then both, now the Oaks. I think he ended up joining the Oaks this year because he got in on the membership last year at a discount. Now if you consider clubhouses/bar area, the Oaks has a much nicer setup.
