Let me ask [s]one[/s] two simple question(s) to you guys who have found clubs.

If the club you had found had a label on it with a name and a cell number, would you still turn it in to the proshop?

Do YOUR clubs have labels on them?

Such a minuscule investment to protect [s]hundreds[/s] thousands of dollars worth of equipment, yet I'll bet not 1 person in 10 uses this tool. Why not?

I know there are no guarantees, but I really think you can up the odds in your favor by doing this.. After all, it's no longer just a found wedge, it's "Bob's wedge", and look here's his number....

His excuse was this has happened before in tourneys and it's usually someone in the tourney so they just bag them and figure it out later since they meet fairly often. I asked him why he didn't turn them into the pro shop and he said he was afraid the guys in front of him who left it might have already left the course and they're from all over the place so better to take them and send out correspondence later....

His story is kind of all over the place but I don't care at this point, I'm just happy they've been located... Yes I'm sorry to have contacted Scratch, especially since they were soo gracious in extending me an incredible offer but to tell you the truth after Tuesday I didn't think I'd ever see them again... Hindsight is 20/20 and I was bummed and wanted replacements as fast as possible, especially since I have no wedges for backups...

Now I have 4 scratch wedges and that's not all bad....:-)

2 Weeks ago, I was playing with some of my high school team buddies. We all set our bags down on the little bag holder spot and walk in to check in and pay. We come back outside 5-10 minutes later and 3 out of the 4 bags are GONE. Believe it or not someone had the balls to steal 3 of our bags in total daylight and we still havent seen them. Shows how sad people are nowadays. And we dont have junker clubs. All of us have 1-2 year old clubs, or some bought this year so that is thousands of dollars gone. Im hoping at some point I just see someone using them and bust them and see the look on their face when I find them and confront them on stealing clubs. But regardless im still clubless :[ Anyone got some for sale clubs? ;] haha

I love a happy ending! Great detective work there thlongball and I must say that I'm impressed with your attitude and the way you carried yourself in every post. Gentlemen are harder to find these days and I always look to golf as a place to expect more of them. You can play in my group anytime. As can most of the guys who offered suggestions and best wishes here. That one guy though....jeeeez.

Many years ago in a scramble, my cart buddy found a pair of Oakleys and tried them on....he liked them and looked good on him. A few holes later it became apparent that he intended to keep them. I spent the last 4 or 5 holes nagging him about turning them in. He didn't respond so I refused to get out of the cart on 18 until he promised to take them out of his bag and turn them in. I guess that was enough to jar his conscience because he quietly went to the pro shop and did the right thing. Whew...I was relieved but it made me think about him in a different way.

Again, thanks for handling yourself so well and congrats in getting the "S" clubs back, as well to Scratch for going beyond the call. I knew they would.

Sorry to hear about you losing those wedges. That sucks bad.

My experience has been that if you leave a 7 or 8 iron on the side of a hole it [u]may[/u] get turned in because it won't match the set of clubs that the guys has that picks up your clubs.

With wedges it's almost never that they will get turned in because the have use no matter what the brand.

I think it's stealing not to turn found clubs in and hope that some of those guys get caught.

After leaving and losing a wedge a couple of years ago, I started making sure that I put my wedge/club that I had just used to chip with on the surface of the green and in the way that I would walk off the green when walking to the next hole. Seems to have solved the problem. It's when we leave a club off the green and maybe on a little incline that we have a harder time seeing them and remembering to pick them up.

You should replace them and not tell your wife you lost them. She will feel bad. Sorry to hear that no one turned them in. IF it was a private course you would have your wedges back by now, that is one of the things that sucks about playing public courses.
