Sorry, but Nationality has nothing to do with the class or lack there of between the two. There are plenty of American gentlemen and English bums and vice versa! Their country of birth has no bearing on demeanor or conduct.

North typically speaks well of Tiger but he is not one to fawn all over him like some do. I think he does a pretty good job of calling things as they are. Compared to the egos of many other past player talking heads he is pretty tame.

Sorry, but I think you missed the point and context of what North was saying. He was making a reference to the [i]"Announcer's Curse", [/i]where a commentator makes a statement such as "running back Joe Smith has not fumbled in 150 carries", then invariably fumbles the ball on the next attempt. He made the statement "Tiger has not missed a green and [i]voila[/i], he misses 4 in a row.

It's called a "priority leaderboard." Networks list the players by either their popularity/marketability and/or their world ranking. The higher ranked players (TW/Phil, etc.) are always going to be ranked higher on the TV leaderboards than other players.

Do you tune in to listen to Chris Berman talk or watch your favorite golfers compete for the US Open? Seems silly to me that anyone would be this bothered by an announcer.

The greens are usually a little smoother in the morning, and the wind is typically calmer, scores were pretty even today but I would say in general it's going to be a little easier in the morning

Watched him on the putting green on Tuesday and he was making everything. He putting from a set distance for a bit and would move back 5 feet after he made one or a few. He was back like 25-30 feet and still draining them with some regularity. It was very impressive to watch. He also seemed like a nice guy. Interacting with some of the people around the gates, smiling, etc. (there are some pics in the US Open pics thread)

I also watched him hit some balls on the range and his motion was looking very solid and he was striking it well into a good wind.

Should be a good week for him.

He said some funny stuff yesterday...that bit with Maltbie pictured on the fence at 18 was great.
