Two observations this week:

1. Sara's personality is coming through clearer on this BB. That's unfortunate.
I thought it was obvious during Sandals Resorts. I mentioned it several times. In forthcoming episodes I'm confident the evidence will be substantial.

There's never been a greater disconnect between my opinion of a contestant, and the consensus.

I'm rooting for the men primarily because I can't stand Sara.

Christina should have stuck up for herself in this episode and insisted on playing the benching challenge. That's $5000 within your grasp, with a huge advantage since your team won the opening challenge. Christina has excelled during the early shows, other than one shaky hole after Brian was already on the beach. I was disgusted when Sara was anointed from a sick day to the catbird seat.

Overall, I thought this was among the worst Big Break episodes in memory. No dramatic shots and tedious dialogue. They couldn't even find a gem from Brian. For some reason the producers are unnecessarily replaying certain clips, before and after a commercial. In tonight's case it only contributed to the blase feel.

The final segment is playing out logically. It's not a 10-1 edge or even 5-1. I almost mentioned that before last week's show, when Blair/Lori overcame the tilt. It's more like 3/1 or 7/2 if played out dozens of times with the same 1 shot edge, or similar. Big Break may be comfortable with that type of imbalance. It's not compelling, IMO. When the player with the edge wins the opening hole, like tonight, the remainder is glorified filler.

I don't know why David holed out on the second hole of the benching challenge.

Chip it as close to the green as possible, then try to hole a chip or putt for a Strike Eraser to save yourself. If it doesn't go in, putt it back off the green and try again. Eventually you'll make it, even if it takes 792 strokes. Keep the Big Break producers there all afternoon and make them pay for the oversight.

One of my buddies is a huge Sara fan, but her personality is getting a little tiresome. I now just use the mute button when she's on air.

Blair is probably the best looking of the bunch, but Christine is the hidden gem. I hope she gets some more air time.

It would be hard to find a more psycho group of guys, but David's character stood out last night. His golf game and course management were off, but he took his lumps like a man.....no smashed clubs, no trash talk...very gracious in defeat.

Vince Lombardi used to tell his players to "act like you've been there before" when they scored a TD. Both teams could learn from that.

Well at least we got to see some good golf shots on last night's episode. Even Brenda hit a decent chip. It's really starting to look like the women have the advantage and it makes sense...I believe all the gals except Brenda were at least playing some competitive golf around the time when BB Dom. was taped. I don't think that any of the guys were doing that. Brian's game is very poor. Worse then PEI by a lot when he said he was still recovering from a serious illness.

I'm still confused as to how all the scoring and $$ prizes work. It does seem as if the pushier players who force their way into the benching challenges will wind up with the most $$ and MVP points. Just seems unfair.

FYI...results from the Arizona Women's Open first round...Lori - T2,70 Sara T3 - 71 Blair T6 - 74. This is a pretty strong field with numerous LPGA and Duramed players.

i thought last night's episode was funny. first Brian and David are just great "car crash" material. i hate the two of them, but tune in every week to watch them. I'd hate to play one round with them in the real world though. i mean after David's drive and he is casually eating that apple as if he is too cool after roping one in the trees. and then to talk to the camera about how good the fruit is on the island. i lol on that one. and of course, i assume he couldn't see the flag? 295? :lol

and as like most, i love Sara Brown, but Elana has got something on my all of a sudden. i didn't even really notice her on the last show as she came and went so quickly. she is a looker for sure.

I'm not a big Sara fan either...can't quite see the appeal but she did hit some nice shots last night.

If the guys can't win the team challange they are toast... they just aren't good enough to make up the penalty stroke against these women players. although with Dave being out of it for good it might help them!

I thought this BB started off really well but it does seem to be slowing down some. It's just a little too complicated what with the team scoring and the MVP scoring.

Given this is reality TV golf, it makes me wonder how much of the "drama" on the show is staged or at least hyped up for camera. If it's true that the guys were pretty much not looking to go professional after their last BB stint, then makes one wonder if they really think the show can catapult them to a full time gig on any tour. Might as well get the most camera time possible and hope that it lands them a co-host gig or invites to future Golf Destination shows.

I mean Dave's 3 wood from 195 out seemed premeditated. Reminds me of the Tine Cup line...no one is going to remember who won BBDR 10 years from now, but they'll remember the 3 wood from 195 out.

Sarah is hot but her personality is starting to wear really thin.

Lori is flat out unbearable, such a grating personality and so pushy. I don't get why she was ever on the show. The title is "Big Break" not "Last Chance". You've got all these young up and comers and then this old never was, just dowsn't make sense.

Tom Abbott, 'cmon man, you dress like a total idiot. Nice shirt on you too, Brian. Good thing the gals are pretty sweet (mostly).
Tom Abbott drives me bonkers. I absolutely hate the way he looks when he stares back at Stephanie and repeats verbatim what she just said or he says something so blatantly obvious to the viewer.

Also, that outfit he was wearing looked like something Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) would have worn in Christmas Vacation!

David's nuked 3 wood from 190 was probably the funniest Big Break moment ever. How does that even happen?

I guess Sky Caddie didn't pop for free units this time. :0) Why on earth did he think he was 295?

I think he played that as an excuse for losing.

I like Sara. I don't know what you guys are disliking about her personality.
I must not be seeing the faults in Sara's personality either...

Sara is a q-t-pie, for sure ... but she has a little known dark & abusive side to her. chasinwithaxsmiley-1.gif

The best part was David smiling after hitting the 3 wood. "That was a flier".

Also to note he has a bag full of Scratch blades and wedges.
That was hilarious! He was all proud of himself, that he just smoked his three wood over 300 yards. I was peeing myself laughing. David and Brian make this BB so entertaining.

This is exactly what I said when I was watching the episode. It would have been bush league to do it this way, but it is a loophole and why not take full advantage of it.

I'm going to give the BB producers the benefit of the doubt and say that after introducing the eraser, they also declared that every shot must be played at the hole as if it was normal stroke conditions. He definitely should have laid up to the fringe and not tried to hole it from the crap, though.

I think the 295 was meditated. Glad he's out of the challenges.

What would they do if he putted it off the green in the normal stroke conditions? Disqualify him? I doubt they could stipulate that you could putt it off the green accidentally, but couldn't do it on purpose. Who knows though.
