Father Daughter Time

Crazy but fun.

I had the best time golfing with my daughter yesterday. She is only 4 but loves to pull the flag and put it back when I'm done. If we are waiting for the group in front of us I let her tee it up and swing. Yesterday was the first time I took her for all 18 and we played in 3 hours so no one was waiting on us, we waited for everyone else so don't worry about that.

Thing is around hole 14 she was tired and wanted to be done, so I had to figure out a way to keep her entertained or it was going to get ugly quick. I pretended we were special agents driving a spacecraft and sneaking up on the bad guys or the golfers in front of us. Our mission was getting the ball on the green and in the hole to save the planet. Needless to say my daughter loved it and had a great time. Scary part is I played fantastic when I started to concentrate on playing the game with her and stopped thinking about golf.

I'm not going to pretend I'm driving a spaceship the next time I play but if you see a spaceship on the golf course next week say HI. Golf is hard but if I can just get out of my way and play the game I will find out I'm a lot better than I really know. Sad part is knowing the weakest part of my game isn't my putting, ball striking or short game it is the space between my ears and it took a 4 year old to teach me.

I'll have to try something similar to keep my 4 yr old into it. I can get him to play 3 holes max before losing focus.

That is awesome. As the father of a 3 yr old daughter, I can attest how tough it is to keep their attention, but you seem to have come up with an awesome way to keep her attention. My daughter loves to golf as well, although I don't get to get out that often anymore. My four year old son is obsessed with golf, so it is a little easier to keep his attention. Although he does bring a couple of matchbox cars to play in the sand bunkers while I am putting! Gotta love the innocence of childhood!

good for you! My daughters are 6 and 3. I've taken my 6 year old out a couple of times and she enjoyed herself. Makes for great memories.
