Now im no Nostradamus but a few days back I posted in a "new world #1" thread about how Tiger probably realized he would be losing the #1 ranking and maybe looking forward to this tournament as a chance to get it back. I also said that he would probably somehow get paired up on sunday with whoever was #1 and drain a 25 footer to win. Of course there is still a lot of golf left to be played but things are shaping up!

love the new anti tiger coverage.. yet again, show phil and lee westwoods every step, then a slow motion of it. See tiger hit into one out of every 3 greens and thats it.
Unlike CBS and the american coverage they appear to not have to dwell on Tiger's every move especially when he is struggling to just shoot par today. Phil isn't doing great but Westwood looks like he is doing pretty good. Tiger is now 5 shots back so maybe this is his one bad round that takes him out of the tournament already.

The world's top 4 made good starts with the exception of Kaymer, who dragged his heels somewhat

Superb 66 from Westwood, you really do wonder how serious his 'injury' is

Westwood 66
Woods 68
Mickelson 69
Kaymer 72
Yeah not that serious.

Didn't play in the USPGA to SAVE himself for the HSBC Championship.

Man people really should engage their brain before posting!!!!
I was talking to Chubby about the injury at Archerfield the week before the Open and he said, 'If it was anyone apart from Westy, you wouldn't even be hearing about it'

It's not giving him much pain at all, he's just worried about possible long-term repercussions if he were to over-do things

I agree, although it's more to do with European Tour bias with Westwood being #1. Love the way the commentators just keep sucking it to his greatness. Phil is just happened to be in the same group. Here's my prediction: Westwood takes the lead after 3rd round, fumbling it down the stretch and finish 2nd by a shot. Just enough to hang on to #1 rank for another week.

Other than the fact he's at the top of the leaderboard there's very little reason to be showing Westwood at all. Yes, there's a clear sense of bias in the Westwood-heavy footage. The new World No 1 in the tournament? And he's up in contention? Who wants to watch that? And that Molinari too. I mean, what's the point of showing him? It's not like he's going to win it.

I'd much rather see a return to the status quo of the last twelve or thirteen years and see Woods' every move. Even if he's not in contention, footage of him scratching his arse and putting tape on his finger end is vital to the atmosphere of the tournament for me. Moreso than the leaders holing putts, anyway. I simply don't have an incentive to watch if Tiger's not featuring in at least 50% of the footage. And if there's to be any sucking up by the commentators, there's only one man who should be the focus of it all.

Tiger is golf. The R&A should do a Pol Pot and reset the golfing calendar so that 1996 is the Year Zero.

Good point. Was just writing something to the same effect but probably not with your eloquance mat. I am really enjoying the coverage so far. We have seen plenty of Tiger hitting shots rather than the usual - hit shot, watch his reaction- analyse his reaction- watch him walk to his bag- then analyse his facial expression in the meantime missing the leaders shots. Lets hope this is the week Francesco can keep the putter going and get the big win his tee to green play deserves.

It's so ironic isn't it?..... people complaining about the bias of the Euros. How long have we had to endure the US bias?

I wish I had a pic to post of the "bodyguards" escorting Phil Mickelson across the bridge to the scoring area after R2. Anyone else catch that? It was hilarious. PM was flanked by two guys the shape of pears who were only missing Krispy Kreme frosting on the mouth. PM looked in tip-top shape compared to those guys.

They were wearing those black back packs .... they must have had them filled full of the Krispy Kreme's.

The other funny thing the announcers where saying was about how they fans have really come along way with their understanding how to act at golf events.... that they no longer run out and take/steal golf balls that land near them......

Is it just me, or is Westwood the most boring #1 in the world? Is Golf channel not ran by the US? There is only one reason I'm up this late and that is to see TW. Whether or not he hits it all over the lot or not. An angry Tiger is much more exciting to watch than Westwood any day. If this continues I see the TV ratings dropping tremendously. Show Paddy, just not Westwood.

Just my $.02

You had better go to bed then because the European Tour telecasts aren't going to show every one of Tiger's shots like our domestic telecasts do. And I, for one, love it. I don't need to see Tiger when he's not in contention. I don't need to see Tiger walking off of the green, talking to Stevie while walking down the fairway, etc. I want to see the guys who are in contention and are making good shots. I don't need to see Tiger flub chips into the bunker like he did on #9.

Paddy just made a damn double- eagle and the SOB'S didn't even do a replay! Talk about bias, Casey fired a 67 and didn't get any coverage. Its more like Lee's tee shot, Lee's reaction, commercial break, Lee's walking towards his ballrussian_roulette.gif

Oh boy this is turning into the perfect tounament. I've never wanted anyone to win more than I want Westwood to win here.

7 of the Euro Ryder Cup team in the top 20 plus Casey and Fisher.
Lee and Luke battling it out for the lead with a Molinari while certain other big name flounder...

Yes I'm a biased European / Englishman - but that's who I support and they're who's doing well - I just wish I could figure out what time I have to get up / stay up to watch this thing tonight / tomorrow morning

I'm one who prefers watching the leaders, no matter who they are,
good golf rules for me. I pull for some more than others, and love
watching TW when he's got it going, but really want to see whos
leading and what they do. On a side note, is Phil not the most
inconsistant putter of any top 5 player ever?
