Good plastic tees

that aren't Zero Friction?
I started using the Zero Friction tees when I heard that they last pretty long since they tend to take awhile to break. I've found that they certainly last longer than the cheapo plastic tees, and the most I've used a round is 2 (although I can usually get through a day with only 1). I do love only having to carry 1 tee in my bag and 1 in my pocket, and I feel a lot less wasteful compared to breaking tees and littering the tee box all the time.

My only two complaints are that they are difficult to put into hard ground (not an issue at better maintained courses) and if they don't go in perfectly straight, it's almost impossible to get the ball to stay on top of those three prongs. This is even worse when it's cold out and my hands are shaky, or when I'm in a rush.

Can anyone recommend a good plastic tee that has the more traditional cup on top? And by good I mean a tee that will last me all day, and possibly over a few rounds. Those store brand plastic tees never last for me, so I'll give Zero Friction props for their quality, but I could do without the actual "zero friction" technology and design.

I couldn't find Epoch tees anymore this year so I bought some Zero Friction...they are annoying due to the prongs, and they are not as durable as the Epoch. I will be going back to Epoch. Another nice thing about epoch is that they make a small tee and a big tee. This makes it nice for 3 wood or iron shots.

I suspect ZF changed the compound of their tees so they wouldn't last as long. I found an early white one and it would bend, not break, so I bought a box of blue ones. These don't bend, they break. So they either changed the compound or it's just the blue ones. I'm going to try a box of white ones and see if they still bend, otherwise, I'm going back to plain old natural wood.

I bought two boxes (50 in each) of ZF tees back in early 2007 and still have a good chunk of them left, so they quality is solid no doubt about it. Just switched to Epoch to test them out, as I do like the fact they have the short tees for anything other than a driver. I honestly can't tell a bit of difference comparing one to the other or vs. a wood tee. I just like them because they last longer.

I do noitce the prongs on the ZF tees get bent inwards after a while and that can make putting a ball on it a bit tough. I haven't played the Epoch tees in really firm ground yet so I can't comment on that aspect, but I do know I hated trying to put a ZF tee in hard ground...thing would just want to bend.

I tried the Epoch tees this weekend for the first time and I think I got a bad batch. Well they were the Vireo S3 version since they didn't have the epoch S3 only the regular Epoch. I broke 5 in a row with my driver then stopped and used my ZF tees. I need to email them to see whats up. They all snapped first use right below the head.

I'm pretty sure ZF changed their tees. I still am using tees from a pack of like 50 I bought like 3 years ago. I found a "newer" version on the range the other day and it felt cheaper and broke easily by hand. I've tried bending the older versions and they just bend and don't break. The new ones seem to snap in half.

Try the Lignum tees if you can find them, I have used one small packet since 2006. In that time I can only recall breaking one tee, all other casualties have been lost.

Apparently they are green, ie' biodegradable as they are made of woodchips, plant matter, and some natural type of glue. So you can appease your conscience if your not driving a hybrid!!!!!

Martini tees last a long, long time, I have not been able to break one. I promise to keep trying, wish me luck, going to need it.

I found one of these on the range back around July. I had been using it ever since (LOL!) and it FINALLY snapped in the colder temps this past weekend. Very durable, and very easy to rest the ball on.

Where is everyone getting these Epochs that don't break? Unless they changed them DRASTICALLY, those things break like wooden tees at 3x the price.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Seems like some overwhelming recommendations to try out Epoch tees. I originally was going to try these out before I even posted, but i saw a lot of reviews saying that they broke every 3-5 holes, plus they were more expensive than ZF tees. Maybe they've changed the design/material since then and everyone has been using the newer ones. I guess I'll pick up a pack and try them out.

Also sucks that it sounds like the newer ZF tees might not be as durable as well. I have a ways to go before my old box runs out, but if the Epochs don't work out for me, than it'll really suck looking for another alternative. Maybe I should start practicing knocking up a mound of dirt and teeing off of that...
