You should know this man... Look at AP2, VR Pro Combo, Mizzy 58 thru 67, Titleist MB and CB... for starters.

Go demo irons until you find what you like.

+1.
A 4 handicap already has a solid swing. You can play any iron you like ! A blade all the way to SGI.
Go and demo anything you like the look of and go from there.

I would go with blades from Mizzy or Titleist have played both and have both its all about accuracy at your level.

Yea thanks guys I know its all preference pretty much at my level. I was kinda looking at the cleveland CG tour blades also but I have noway of demoing them as they are 3 yrs old and no one has them. I would really like to try blades as for I have a high ballflight and they would lower it somewhat but I do not want them hurting my distance or would a blade have better distance? Ive always played a small cavity as im playing titleist 704 cb now and from playing both cast or forged either one would be fine I have not found an advantage of forged over cast so I would play either of those but thats just me I am a traditional guy love the looks of the Plain ole chrome with no busy cavity Thats really what I love about those Cleveland CG tour blades! I may give them a try like most of you said at my level I think i would be fine with blades.

Have you looked at the new Wilson Staff FG 62's? Now those are some real sexy butter knives.

Those are very nice looking irons but they are too pricey for me Im really looking at around 400 bucks thats why im looking for 2-3 yr old sets but new! Ebay has those CG tour for 399.99 brand new!

This is my general feel as well. If you like the 'clicky' feel go titlieist ...if you like that butter/muted feel go Mizzy.

I prefer the the clicky fell of Titleist. FYI ... Older Clevaland irons (I had the 588) had the clicky feel as well.

Yea im used to the clicky feel because Ive played titleist all my life but im ready for something different and since I just got a new cleveland DST driver that I absolutly love thats why I would like to give cleveland irons a shot Ive seen alot of people saying cleveland makes good solid stuff.

All good clubs mentioned in this thread for a 4HC. One that is absent (not sure why) would be the PING s56's. No, they aren't your "forged for snobs" clubs but they get the job done with a nice, blade-like profile with more than enough help on off-center hits. I just switched late in the year and I can't wait for the snow to melt in Ohio so I can really dial these beauties in. Good luck with your search. So many options...so few dollars (for the majority of us). hi.gif

If you want to go Cleveland and do it on the cheap, the TA3 is a wonderful players iron.
yea Im definently going cleveland But I believe now its between the CG tour blades or the CG7 tour reds. I may just go with the CG7 tour just because of the little bit more forgivness than the Blades. But I do like the looks of those TA3 no doubt thanks!

Same question I asked myself last year. Made a bigger investment in Vega cavity backs with KBS Tour shafts. Could not possibly be any happier. If you bump up your budget, you could possibly get into a used set, but hard to find.

That would be a smart choice. I am also a 4 cap and have played a lot of different sets of blades. Probably one of my least favorite are the CG1's. They a pretty unforgiving for a modern blade with a tiny sweet spot. Personally i really like a combo set. Blades from 6 or 7 iron. Gives that great solid feel and lower tradjectory with the scoring irons, and then some players cavities in the long irons for more forgivness and higher flight.
One of my favorite combo sets are the 2002 Maxfli A10 Tours. They are cast but a nickel/chrome metalurgy that gives them a very soft feel. I am convinced that this type of set make up is the best option for middle single figure markers.

Find a good set of CG2 and put KBS in them. Great feel plus a little help. Or Wilson FG tours would be nice as well.

Why would a 4 handicap ask what is a good iron for a player? Doesn't make sense.
Great informative post. I'm sure the OP will appreciate your input. :russian_roulette:

Anyways, I don't have that low of a HDCP (mine is around 7-8) but I demoed the CG7 Tours. They felt great. Another option, not Cleveland exactly but affiliated, is Srixon irons. Just a thought.

Well since you want to know, I was actualy just wanting some feedback on paticulary CLEVELAND irons! And yes i strike the ball well and yes I can play anything! But I was looking at cleveland irons and was wanting to see if anyone could give me some suggestions on any of those! And if the post does not make sense then why are you reading it and commenting on it?

Doesn't mean he knows everything about different irons. einstein.gif I was between a 4 - 5 handicap a couple years ago and really didn't know much at all about equipment. Everything in my bag was cheap, not good and pretty much garbage. I couldn't have gotten $200 for everything I had lol but I played all the time so I got pretty good with what I had. I wish I would have been on here asking questions, would have made me realize I needed to get equipment more for my level a lot sooner! good.gif

What would be a good players iron for a 4 handicap? I would preferably like to have cleveland as I love there stuff but ive never had any of their irons I have a driver and putter by cleveland and love those. But im up for any suggestions you may have.

Since you're a 4 handicap, there's a quite a bit of choices for you both new and old. It comes down for the most part which one appeals to you at address.
